Hi, I'm trying to create a data link to an Excel spreadsheet. Every time I use the DATALINK command and complete the pop-up nothing happens. I can see in the reference manager that the document's status is "unreferenced." See attached screenshot. I've repeated this process a few times to see if it was a fluke.

Please let me know if there's anything else I should check, or any other info that would be helpful.

Thanks!

Hi @dmorganRDS5Y ,

Please specify your AutoCAD for Mac version and macOS installed on your Mac.

Where is the Excel table that you want to link to the drawing? Is it on the local drive or somewhere on the network drive?

What do you see in the Command window when click on OK in the "New Excel Data Link" window?

Did you accidentally forget to check the "Insert Table" option in the dialog box?

Thanks for the response. Here's my version info: V.58.M.214

The file I'm referencing is on Google Drive which I access via Finder, so for this purpose it's like a local drive. I have plenty of other files saved to this drive that I reference with no issues.

Here's a screenshot of that dialog box. I've made sure to check that box each time.

Any difference if you selected instead of linking to name range but the entire sheet?

That did work. I can live with that for the sake of getting this project finished, but do you have any ideas why I wouldn't be able to insert a print area?

Does this problem with print area selected happens on all excel links or just this particular file?

@dmorganRDS5Y ,

Sorry, but you haven't answered one of my other questions:

What do you see in the Command window when click on OK in the "New Excel Data Link" window?

And one more question:

What if you right-click on the unreferenced data link and select "Insert table"?

Thanks for your help. everyone. I continued to work with this and it eventually inserted correctly.

@maxim_k To answer your question that I missed, I wasn't getting anything in the command window after clicking okay. I think the problem was that I thought I had set a print area because that was showing up as an option in the dropdown, but I may not have actually done that, or had done it incorrectly. I went back to the original document, cleared and set the print area again, and it worked fine.
