I am currently running AutoCAD LT for Mac 2020.2, but this is an issue I have had for several versions. Every time I open AutoCAD LT, irrespective of the version, I get the popup that says, "AutoCAD didn't shut down properly, but your files have been recovered." What is odd about this is that the app quits properly every time, and still the next time I open the app I get this error. How do I get the error to only appear when the app actually doesn't shut down properly?
Should I do a complete uninstall and reinstall?
Any assistance would be appreciates. Thanks!

I just tried this with a file. In the first case, I double-clicked the file from the Finder and the error showed up. In the second case, I opened AutoCAD first, chose the exact same file from File > Open, and the error did not show up. So it appears that this error only happens when double-clicking a file from the Finder. The former case (the one where the error showed up) is the most common way I open files in AutoCAD, so it is very annoying and quite distracting. I would like to know how to make it stop.
Yes, that is a workaround but it is not an acceptable one. This is clearly a bug that needs to be addressed by AutoDesk. Every other app on my Mac allows me to double-click a file, thereby opening the app and the file. AutoCAD should work the same way.
I think I am going to do a full uninstall and reinstall and see if that fixes it. I will be back to make a report here.
I fixed it by resetting AutoCAD to defaults using the information found here. I have double-clicked several files from the Finder with AutoCAD not running and I am no longer getting the error. Hopefully this will not re-appear. I also hope that this provides a solution for future people with the same issue.
