Data Extraction

I cannot figure out how to get to the data extraction wizard in ACAD 2016 for Mac. If I enter the DATAEXTRACTION command it says the command does not exist. This was so quick and simple on a Windows machine.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

AutoCAD for Mac has another command name for this - DATALINK

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-for-mac/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/E...

Than you will see one dialog box (instead of wizard) where you can set everything for data link.
It is also very simple to do on Mac.

Maxim

Hopefully this node is still active... I'm trying to extract attribute data from my blocks, but no luck so far.

I tried, but cannot get this done with the DATALINK-command. And DATAEXTRACTION is not available on a Mac.

Do you have any idea how to do this Maxim? (Or anyone reading this question?)

Thank you in advance.

Thanks so much Maxim, after some trial-and-error I got it to work.

The only thing I cannot do (what I haven't figured out) is to get the data from just a selection of Blocks.

It always gives me the full monty from every block in my drawing.

Is there a way to get the data from just the selection?

I have dynamic window blocks in the entire drawing, and would like to export just the data from the first floor, or ground floor, etc.

Now I would add an extra field to my block to indicate the floorlevel, but maybe there is an easier method.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried "Object" option in -ATTEXT command before you specify Extraction type?
I mean this prompt:
"Enter extraction type or enable object selection [Cdf/Sdf/Dxf/Objects] <C>:"

This will allow you to select a part of the drawing from which you want to extract data.

I did indeed try that. It made no difference in the output.

I still got all the data from all the blocks.

But no problem. I'll find a way to work with it.

I'm really thankful for the tip you already gave me about the exporting.

Thanks and have a nice day!

That is strange, because I tried "Objects" option on my side and it works fine: AutoCAD 2018 for Mac extracts data only from blocks I selected in -ATTEXT command.
Which AutoCAD version are you using?

I am using AutoCAD 2016.

And I tried again, and now it worked, with the "Objects"-selector.

No clue to what happend before, but is is working fine now.

Thanks for guiding me here and have a nice day!
