Blocs Autocad

Hello, when I add blocks in the library, I can use them at once but once I leave autocad and I restart it, if I want to add a block from the library window a message appears that it is impossible to find the file.
Has anyone ever had this worry?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Robin,
What AutoCAD version do you have?
Where are the blocks you add to library (assuming you are talking about Content palette or Content tab of Blocks palette)? Are they on local drive or on network drive?
Iv they are on network drive, what protocol do you use to connect that network drive: SMB or AFP?

Hi

I have AutoCAD 2020

I talk about a content palette. I check and everything is in my local driver.

I did not say it but I'm on a mac.

I assumed this, because you are posting in AC for Mac Forum 😉

Can you describe in more details: how do you add blocks to library? Step by step, maybe with screenshots.
Can you also attach screenshot with the " message .... that it is impossible to find the file"? When do you get it?

To get information about full path in Finder you need to Crtl+Option+Right Click on file:

Select path in Get Info window, copy to clipboard and paste to your post.

You can also attach drawing with block here, I'll look at it.

AutoCAD 2020 cannot find drawing with block, because this drawing is inside iCloud Drive folder.
I think it is a bug in 2020 version, because in 2018 version I can use libraries with blocks placed inside iCloud Drive folder.
So for now (until the bug will be fixed in 2020 version) you cannot add blocks to libraries if drawing with block is inside iCloud Drive folder.

After additional testing I figured out that I was wrong about this bug. In fact it is not related to iCloud Drive.

But the bug related to new (in 2020 version) Blocks palette exists.

Here is the description of this bug:

If you add drawing to the library as whole drawing by selecting an option from this alert:

2019-08-18_20-47-39.png

you cannot use such block (insert block from blocks library tab).

But if you select an option to add multiple blocks from the drawing - everything works fine.

As a side effect - because of this bug you cannot add drawing which contains no blocks to Blocks Library (in such case the drawing itself becomes a block).
