autocad running extremely slow

Im using Autocad 2015 on my macbook pro quadcore 2.4, 8gb ram.

The program is running extremely slow and the wheel of fortune is appearing in all types of situations. The file is really simple, without hatches or Xrefs. It contains of nothing but lines.

All other programs like photoshop archicad and indesign are running fine. It's just autocad thats acting up. I was earlier on Autcad 2014 and the same thing happend.

Any ideas how i can fix this?

Appriciate the help.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

Do you have such problem in all your drawings? Or just in one?
Do you have parametric constraints in your problem file?
If you wish, you can attach DWG here, I will look at it.

Also... where is the file stored (where are you saving it to)? Size of the file?

Well, generally I dont work in autocad, so I cant really compare to other
drawings. The file was made in Autocad 2014, but when i start it load the
file i get a system message saying that the file was not made by an
autodesk product.

Thanks alot for looking at the file!

Have you tried to open it from some other location on your Mac?

I have tried to open it from other location. Same thing happends. Litterally just selecting a line makes autocad go bananas.

File size is only 850k .

I was correct - there were a lot of parametric constraints in your file:

Command: _DelConstraint
All constraints will be removed from selected objects…
Select objects: all
3464 found
Select objects:
5920 constraint(s) removed

Please test attached file and check if you have Infer Constraints ON on the Status Bar:

2015-04-21 16-37-05 AutoCAD Text Window.png

Turn Infer Constraints OFF!

I've toggled that option before but i havent used the command you suggested. The file you sent seems to be running more smoothly!

Do i have to use _delconstraint every time i open or use a different drawing or can i change the pre-settings?

Thanks alot, you really helped me meet my deadline (:

With tis command: DelConstraint - I simply deleted all constraints from your drawing which were created automatically as you had Infer Constraints ON, I just wanted to demonstrate you how many constraints you had in the drawing.
