how to show the 'missing font' dialog box?

hi everyone

i am using the latest macbook pro and AutoCad 2017, im new to macbooks and still not very familiar with how it works.

so theres a missing text file in the dwg file that I wna open, in my old windows computer there will be a dialog box for me the check 'replace' or 'ignore' (i forgot the exact wordings), but here on mac it just directly brings be to a folder which wnts me to direct another font file (which tht folder doesnt contain any font file for autocad). So eventually I could not open my dwg file. I tried resetting the hidden messages on AutoCad preferences but nothing changes. I also could not change the font mapping file as well. Can anyone help?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Cho Yin Law,

Are you about this window?

2017-09-12_14-28-57.png

If yes, then even if you don't get it now, you can pick "Cancel" in the dialog box where you asked to pick missing SHX file and drawing should open anyway.

If you are not able to return back this window by resetting Hidden messages, you may try to trash Profile.aws file.

You need to quit AutoCAD then navigate to the

~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/roaming/AutoCAD 2015/R20.0/enu/Support/ folder (for AC 2015)

or to the

~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2016/R20.1/roaming/Support/  (for AC 2017)

~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/AutoCAD 2017/R21.0/roaming/Support/  (for AC 2017)

and move Profile.aws to Trash.

Then restart AutoCAD and test missing window.

But what happened then?

If you deleted Profile.aws file then the window I show in my first time post should appear again. Do you see it?
Can you attach the file in question here?

I see you are trying to open drawing in DXF format.
What size is this file?
Can you share it here on the Forum?

Hi Cho Yin,

I see your problem.

The bad thing is that AutoCAD for Mac doesn't show the SHX (SHP) file name, where the missing SHAPE is defined (AutoCAD for PC shows it). Plus for some unknown reason AutoCAD refuses to open DXF file with the SHAPE from the missing specific Shape definition file, B1000.shx and b1000a.shx in your case.

Here is an alert from AutoCAD which you can see when you pick "Cancel" in "Select SHX file" window during opening DXF file:

Anyway. The good news - I tried to open your DXF file in AutoCAD for PC, and it gives me the hint about missing SHX file, using Google, I have found reference to it here:

https://zhidao.baidu.com/question/201928014.html

I downloaded archive with the missing shape file, put it to the same folder as your DXF file and was able to open it in AutoCAD.

I attached here two SXH files in question for your convenience. Download them, put to the same folder as your DXF file - now you will be able to open it.

Maxim
