Apple has announced the next OS X El Capitan earlier today, and the first preview version is already available for app developers. AutoCAD team is starting to analyze the compatibility on this OS and preparing to fix the potential issues.

Some of AutoCAD users may have access to the El Capitan preview version, and would like to test AutoCAD on it. Please kindly post any of your findings in this thread, that would help other users and also the AutoCAD team.

Please include the following info in your posts for reference:

-OS X version(for example, DP1 15A178w)

-AutoCAD version

Thanks,
The AutoCAD for Mac Team

Happened right after I updated to OS X 10.11.1 "El Capitan". Pretty sure it's the OSX update, then AutoCAD 2015 crashes happen often.

Plus, if you update to AutoCAD 2016, you don't have the OSX compatibility crashes anymore. Ether way, Apple is not suppose to be fixing compatibility issues with programs, it's companies of programs like Autodesk that are suppose to fix compatibility issues.

Microsoft and Apple do not have time to setup compatibility for millions of programs out there, so it needs to be setup vise-versa. Operating systems don't work with programs, programs work with operating systems.

I was wondering if someone could give us an approximation to when Autocad 2015 will be compatible with OS X El Capitan. I understnad that your team is working hard to resolve this issue but an approximation would be useful.

Many Thanks

I've been wondering the same thing... To quote Autodesk; "...(within several weeks after the new OS release)..."

How long has it been now since OS X 10.11 El Capitan was released - Sept. 30th, 2015. 18 days and counting...

Maybe they meant after the next OS X update 10.11.1? Cat LOL

This is unacceptable. Once again, AutoCAD/LT for MAC should have been ready before the new OS X release. Isn't that expected of a company like Autodesk when they develop apps for MAC platform? At least have the common courtesy to inform users well ahead of time that you won't have an update/be supporting the latest OS X.

It still doesn't make any sense why AutoCAD LT 2015 MAC was the only app (including third-party) that did not work for me after upgrading. El Capitan is more of a refined update of Yosemite then a major upgrade so conceivably it should have worked.

Regardless, I'm buying a new iMac this week and want this matter resolved! And I do not want to see; "Your product is up-to-date!" unless it's after the EL Capitan update.

 ----------------------------------

Hello from Autodesk,

We're writing because you have a registered version of AutoCAD for Mac, and we want to pass along important information about the recent Mac OS release.

AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac versions 2015 and earlier are currently not compatible with Mac OS® X v10.11.x (El Capitan). Autodesk plans to release service packs for the 2015 and 2014 versions of AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac that will allow those versions to run on Mac OS® X v10.11.x (El Capitan).

When the service packs are released (within several weeks after the new OS release) you'll receive notice in the Mac OS Notification Center. Download links and compatibility information are available on the following pages:

Thank you for choosing AutoCAD for Mac,

Day 19... and still no update.

This "official support" should have come in Update 4, especially since it states;"This update resolves some compatability issues on the new MAC OS X." I guess that was only for some early Beta OS X adopters, not the final public release version, since it did not make any difference for many of us.

And why are there two Update 4's listed anyhow? Both released on same date, two different sizes, yet only the larger one downloads. More AutoCAD confusion.

If only I got a quarter for every minute AutoCAD had compatibility issues, while a majority with the same operating system did also. Man, that would be great.

I wonder if Autodesk has a separate programming department division for apple software like normal corporate businesses. Maybe they make a programming department work on mac and windows, this way mac gets ignored because they get more clients on windows side.

And please Autodesk, don't stress the programming department. Just hire more temporaries at least. If you feel temps or new people will slow things down, then you're hiring the wrong people.

I believe AutoCAD for Mac is a completely separate product with a different
development team than AutoCAD for Windows.

I can confirm from direct experience and other sources, that the following are having or had issues with Mac OSX El Captain. The following shows the biggest issues. Curious to see who fixes their issue first.

(Autodesk) AutoCAD: Often Crashes #Many Users (Not All) are Effected

This problem still has not been resolved.

Doing a common task such as changing a layer will cause a crash.

(Valve) Steam: UI Overlay #Many Users (Not All) are Effected

This problem still has not been resolved.

Using the popular Shift-Tab Overlay will not display, and when going through a manual procedure the friends list is not clickable.

(Adobe) Photoshop: Toolbar and Perspective Mode #Some Users are Effected

This problem still has not been resolved.

Changing a tool bar location within a minute of changing the view to perspective causes a long pause.

I think - YES!

The Update 3 resolves the compatibility issues on OS X El Capitan. The Update 3 is a combo update which also includes the fixes in previous updates. It can be patched directly over the previous versions of AutoCAD 2015 for Mac. It is recommended that you read the entire document properly before you apply the update to your product. For reference, please save this document to your hard drive or print a copy.

I am a bit sceptical with updating now that what I have works so I will delay the update till someone else tests that it works

I've applied Update 3 and the program seems to be running fine.  If you have updated OSX El Capitan, the crashes with AutoCAD seems to have been fixed...so far.

The update seems to be running smoothly now. BEFORE the update, the programme would immediately crash after saving and preforming functions. It looks like the issues have been resolved now.

THANK YOU AUTODESK!!!!!!

You should see it when you run AutoCad (on the screen top right).
OR
You can submit an error report and Autodesk should reply with a link to the update.

AutoCAD LT 2015 for MAC Update 5 has arrived!

Finally! A month behind... but nevertheless it's here. Now to see if it works. I'll install the ACAD update first and then upgrade to El Capitan, again. This will also make for an easier migration to new iMac.

I was confused at first by the "Update 3..." posts then realized that was for full version. But as usual in typical Autodesk fashion the update is not showing through these links from this page; Mac OS X v10.11.x (El Capitan) compatibility with AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac.

Download through app; Menu>AutoCAD LT 2015>Check for Updates, login to Autodesk.Account, or try this link;

As some of you have replied, the new update for AutoCAD 2015 is available now. You can click menu AutoCAD 2015 > Check for Updates to get it.

In order to deliver the fix to users earlier, we released the English version update as soon as it is ready. The French version will be available later. And the download link on Autodesk.com will be available later.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

If if you still see El Capitan only issues, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

Thanks,

Wei

Great news, but I'm a 2013LT for Mac user.

Will there be a patch for this version?

....or am I now forced to buy/subscribe 2015 or Mandalore?

Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.
