Fix ms access database engine 2016

Fix the issue with the ms access database engine 2016 constantly needing to be repaired.

every update to office breaks the ms access database engine 2016. repairing this breaks the data link function with Excel. I know how to repair this, but it should not happen.

not going to happen in any shape or form dont waste your time

they ignore any bug thats not been created by inmplementing new functionality in the latest version

there are liturayy 100's of bugs in the software

some going all the way back to when it was WD toolboX so we are getting close to 20 years and still no bug fixes

At this point, Microsoft needs to develop a new database engine. This 2016 engine is the latest they have, and is full of holes… which is why they keep updating it… which is why it keeps breaking ACADE and datalinking.

When they finally develop one, I am sure that Autodesk will be quick to adopt it to power ACADE’s catalog databases.

Ball is in Microsoft’s court, and I’m not holding my breath ☹

In the meantime, I’m glad the dll fix still works, and hope the day never comes when we start needing to rollback Windows updates because we can no longer reverse the effects!

I understand that Autodesk is putting this on Microsoft. However, they could just move off the Access platform.  there are plenty of alternatives to Access. This is 100% an Autodesk issue.

That is a good point.  Why not employ mysql?  Or even Microsoft's sql, like Vault does?  Perhaps the interoperability with Office apps is a major factor though.

you’re missing a very important point

Autodesk only fixes bugs it creates (if at all) in the current version of ACADE

any previous versions you’re on your own

from my last conversation with Autodesk, it is still an issue in the newest version. and they have no plan on fixing it. I was told they MIGHT move to SQLite. but the person i spoke to was not sure. No matter how you look at this it is poor product development.

Autodesk you should be ashamed 😞

EPLAN has removed all traces Microsoft Access/Excel now, making it more stable when you create reports in EXCEL and a more stable local parts management, with replacements that actually work. You can of course connect to and use Microsoft SQL servers...

Just saying that the competition acknowledges these problems and fixes them.

Trond it’s not your job to point out the deficiencies in ACADE and then tell them the alternatives have fixed the issue several years ago
that’s my job !!!!!!!!!!!  😂

Add this path to support file paths. Its a Microsoft issue as well and not an Autodesk one
