Title Block Swapping issues with attributes

I am having problem with swap title block ACADE 2019 , i am trying to reuse existing projects for my new projects, for that i am trying to copy the title block from existing project drawing and did few modifications in logo, rev and description etc., and save the same as new title block for my new project.

Now i am trying to swap the new title block with the existing one for all the drawings in the projects. The title blocks are updated, but the new attributes are over write with existing one and also few of the deleted attributes in the New Title block will remain in the updated blocks. Seems some issues with the attributes ?

Kindly please assist to resolve this issues.

It is not clear how the title block was swapped. I normally follow the following steps:

  1.  Open the drawing you would like update the title block.
  2. Type WBLOCK in the command bar
  3. In the Write Block window select Block in the Source group.
  4.  From the drop down menu select the drawing border title block. Make sure you select correct title block name. This can be verified by right clicking the existing drawing's title block or drawing boarder > Properties > check name in Misc.   This block was originally was (in .dwt) used to create .dwg file from .dwt.
  5. Save the selected title block in the desktop
  6. Open the extracted title block and edit as required.
  7. Use command AESWAPBLOCK.
  8. In Option B, select Update a Block - ........., Then follow the instruction to select the modified title bock.
  9. In the Insertion Scale, check mark the boxes as required.
  10. In the Copy old Block's .................., select Yes, copy all, old to new or select as you wish.
  11. click Active Drawing or Project to update all project drawings
  12. Once title block is swapped, some texts may disappear or displaced, use command BATTMAN which opens Block Attribute Manager.
  13. Select block by clicking + Select block (title block) or select from Block dropdown menu and click Sync.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks for your immediate reply, i am using the Swap/Update block from menu tab. I am doing swap block following the below steps,

1. Save as the drawing from existing project and clear the contents inside the sheet and made few changes in the attributes and save again as Dwg file as "New Block"

2. Open the one drawing from the new project manager (need to update the block) click swap/update block from menu tab.

3. Click option B, Update a block and default selection for use same attribute names.

4. Select the path for "New Block" and click active drawing and also try with project wide.

Outcome of the Result:

1. Title block updated with changes in Logo, but other all attributes are overlay existing and new, while i click block editor in the updated block, i can see only new attributes and the block looks my "new block" but the model page all the attributes are overlay.

Kindly please advise, if i did some thing wrong....

I would extract the the embedded title block from the the drawing as I listed earlier and edit it as required, otherwise it wont work. Then swap the old title block with the edited title block as you did.  The embedded title bock is normally inserted into a new drawing during drawing creation from from template .dwt file.

Another important think you need to check: how many drawing boarders are in the drawing. Make sure you are extracting and updating the right boarder. Some companies have two drawing borders ie one boarder is for sheet 1 and other drawing boarder is for subsequent sheets because sheet 1 border has signature block and rest of the sheet many not have signature block, hence two drawing borders. Drawing boarders can be turned on or off as per the sheet numbers / as required.

It will be in .dwg format when you extract it from the existing drawing using command WBLOCK

You dont need to save it as  .dwt. Just edit it as required, then swap / update. Use BATTMAN if attributes dont sync.

1.  Open the drawing from the project and type WBLOCK, then choose the correct block in the source and select ok, then save as this drawing in Desktop.

2. Open the drawing which is saved in the desktop and made required modification in Logo and other attributes, then save again.

3. Open the new project drawing, which needs to be update the title block and select swap/update block, then follow the steps as per the previously mentioned.

4. Choose the sample block which needs to update as this is the current active drawing

5. Choose the updated title block path, which save in desktop and follow the steps as previously mentioned.

6. Just click active drawing.

7. The title block updated in the active drawing, but the existing title block also there, all the text are overlay with existing.

8. I did BATTMAN command, but i am not sure which to select from the drop down menu.

Select the tags (attributes) then click sync as shown. Do for all. I have been using this method several years as I need to update title block due to YEAR change on copyright. It updates 200 drawings in one sweep.

Try this method in one of the demo drawings, if works on demo drawing, then I guess the existing title block needs fixing.

Would you mind to send a copy of your drawing with title block?

As I guessed, there are two title blocks in the updated drawing: PMU SIRIM 1 (frame) and TITLE_TXT (includes txt). Your extracted PMU SIRIM also includes TITLE_TXT.

I guess all your existing drawings also have two blocks listed above:

Depending on which one you are going to modify:

Solution - delete TITLE_TXT block from the extracted PMU SIRIM 1 and update your updated drawing again. This will fix your problem.

As your company uses two borders: one for texts and another for frame,  you need to extract each block and modify them as you wish and replace blocks one by one. This can be done project wide. Test first on active drawing only.

I Normally create only one block title block which include both frame and all required txts.

Best of luck

Hi, What i am understanding about two title blocks is, frame represents the title border and Title_text represents the text inside the title block. If my understanding is wrong, please correct me.

I modified only the text & logo in the extracted title block, the title border remains same. Still if i removed the Title_text block from PMU SIRIM 1 it will work ? Also can you guide me,how to delete the Title_text block from PMU SIRIM 1 ?

Once deleted, just i will swap block or i need to do the required modification again and then, need to swap block.

Kindly please advise....

-Correct

- it will work. Logo is in PMU SIRIM. As separate TITLE_TXT (for texts inside of the frame) is already on the drawing, you dont need another TITLE_TXT on PMU SIRIM. To delete TITLE _TXT from PMU SIRIM, just click 'MAJOR RELAY LIST', it will highlight all texts in the block and hit delete.

Once deleted, just i will swap block or i need to do the required modification again and then, need to swap block.

- just swap the PMU SIRIM only. You dont need to swap Title_txt as there is no changes made.

Hi, I deleted the TITLE_TEXT as per your advise, but its not worked out. I just clicked the "Major Relay List" it shows some other texts as per your photo which you send previously. I deleted and swapped the block, but the deleted text areas, not updated in the updated block, i mean that, the updated block has remain unchanged the deleted areas of the TITLE_TEXT in PMU SIRIM 1.

Could you please advise, where i am missing ?

Hi, Just i noticed, the "updated block" drawing also has TITLE_TEXT block, so i deleted there also and save. Then again swap the PMU SIRIM 1 block with new drawing "Updated Block"

Now all the attributes in the PMU SIRIM 1 are updated and not overlay each other in the new drawings. But i have more than 200+ drawings, need to delete for each and every drawing before update block ?

I have attached updated PMU SIRIM 1 for you to swap the block in the drawing. During block swap, make sure you click the drawing border frame not text.

I also attached updated drawing, see there is no texts overlapping.

Try it how it goes.
