Hi,
I am currently working from home until further notice due to the COVID-19 situation. I have my usual office workstation at home and I remote into works network securely.
Launching Electrical 2018 for the first time takes ages - sometimes over half an hour. Also opening a simple drawing from the network or from my C drive takes at least 100 seconds before everything is loaded.
Launching the program for the first time without a network connected is very fast. I get a few errors along the way saying it cannot load the "environment" which I can skip past but ultimately the program then cannot locate a licence and shuts down.
When opening drawings I get the feeling the very long load time is down to the GUI / environment being loaded each time and this is pulled from works network. Is this the case and is there anything I can do to load the working environment from my PC instead of the network?
Thanks.
I use VPN. It both 2018 and 2020 work perfectly. Vault also works fine. If you are using VPN, probably you need to speak to IT.
I know the work network is slow when used remotely as I experience issues with it outside of Electrical but there isn't anything I can do about that. I work for a big company and it is the same for everybody. What I would like to find out is if there are any changes I can make to how/where Electrical loads the GUI from to speed up loading.
If you would like to work off the network and still would like to use company customised symbol libraries, you need to copy them to your local drive and redefine the directories in the WD.env file which is saved in C:\Users\username\Documents\Acade 2018\AeData. I believe if your pc was previously connected the company network, the WD.env file may not be in above folder (either deleted or renamed as old), you need to change it to wd.env. If you don't modify wd.env file as stated above ACADE will use default symbol libraries and footprints etc from C drive.
