Modeler DLL's - wrong error

Wheelie22

Using ACAD-E 2017 and got this error :

3D MODELER ERROR.png

But it has nothing to do with this, in this case it is 1 drawing in the active project that causes this.

Erased every thing in the drawing but the block : "WD_M"

So Autodesk can you check this and make a solution or a patch ?

Temporary solution :

Remove the drawing/project from the Project Manager and restart acad-e to continue.

If you use the -PURGE command, to purge all Regapps, will that fix it?

No...  96 registered applications deleted

That is a lot, but the same error.

From within the PURGE command, there is a radio button that says 'view items you cannot purge'. Click it and see what it displays.

Could be, there's something on a frozen or off layer, this will help you find it.

You can try to wblock the drawing into a new blank drawing, and see if this removes the problem.

Can you try to add this DWG into a project ?

I see nothing special in this list :

cannot purge.png

But you can open the DWG your self and test it ! Smiley Wink

Please try the workaround given in the following link and reply if it is fixed.

I did step 1 but no changes

Before i do step 2, can you try this :

- add this drawing to a project

What happens on your PC ?

Erased every thing in the drawing and the block "WD_M" to, the same error

Recoverd the drawing, 1 error, no change

Made an DXF and save it as DWG, add active drawing, error Smiley Frustrated

Here is the DXF with the error in it

Yes..... thanks, this worked, so audit / recover / purge / DXF dont do the things that WBLOCK does.

THe problem is that at one point, someone inserted a 3D Solid, surface or something into this drawing.

This marks the drawing as "I need the solid modeler to display this drawing", so when AutoCAD open the drawing, it tries to load the modeler dll's.

Even if you delete those solid/surface objects, the drawing is still marked as "I need the modeler".

So.. There's something wrong with your installation here, with the modeler. The other users here DON'T get any error message, as the modeler is loaded as needed. This is what it look like when I open your drawing:

2017-09-07_08-48-07.png

No error message, just an informational message that the modeles dlls are loaded.

The solution... First, fix you AutoCAD Installation.

And then, use the WBLOCK (as mentioned earlier in this thread) to save the entities in your drawing to a new drawing.

*Hint: Turn on all attributes by setting ATTDISP to ON first. Remember to set it back to "Normal" afterwards.

If i open a drawing with a solid it works fine

Opening an AutoCAD 2013 format file.
Regenerating model.

Loading Modeler DLLs.

the drawing is still marked as "I need the modeler".

Not on my PC :

Not Me.png

But when i add it to the active project it gives the error, i see no logic in this.

AutoCAD will only load the modeler once per session. If you restart AcadE, Will it try to load the modeler then?

I never told this before, the error happens during this project update, if you open a project or add a drawing :

updating.png

I did a add active drawing with the DXF version, and no updating and no error.

But saveas DWG and add it to get Updating and the error.

Also made a DXF of the Wblok-ed version (that has no error anymore) and compared them it to the DXF (with the error) by content. There are a lot of differences, if i have the time (not this year) i will check every line Smiley Embarassed

I added your DWG 'DWG with DLL modeler ERROR.dwg' answering both "yes" and "no" to apply project defaults. No error messages.

This error could be made more informative maybe in the future?, like when opening a Autocad electrical project, there is 700 drawings in the project, and only one of them might have a solid or offending object, but we have no idea which drawing it is.

So the fix right now is to clean up all drawings in the ACADE project , sometimes this needs to be done twice (nested block?). That usually removes this problem, but only for a while until somehow by someone that solid gets copied again back to our electrical project, which drawing? We dont know, so we will clean up the project again...frustrating...
