Logic/loop diagrams

Hello all, greetings from Portugal

ACADE newbie here. Still learning actually.

I have a fundamental question which may outcome to realize that ACADE may not be the suitable tool.

I need to have a way to produce logic diagram with some ability to use the cross reference over the document.

Something like this picture below: valve_logic.png

I've been doing these in...Visio...but I need more powerfull functionality such as cross-reference, reports, etc.

I know I can draft these in Autocad but, right from the start, I don't have multipage functionality (beside models).

As these diagrams are often to programming PLC, I want that a particular variable that is on page "3", when I call her on another page I'm sure that both tag and description are correct (error minimizing).

Any ideas, I would appreciate.

Regards

ACADE is not designed for doing logic diagrams like this.

However, it is possible to get it to do so with all the automation it already has. However, it will be a lot of work to set up properly but only needs to be done once.

You need to create the basic logic blocks to match your standards with the correct attributes and add a table to the catalogue to use with them.

You say that you are receiving training, is that with an accredited trainer or by trial and error?

If you are doing a training course, ask the teacher about creating custom blocks and how to set them up for full automation.

If you are going by trial and error, insert a coil and contact and explode both.

Look at the attributes on each block. You will need to add most of these attributes to your custom blocks.

NOTE - You will need at least 2 versions of each logic gate, 1 in the Vertical and 1 for the Horizontal.

Also, be aware of the block NAMING CONVENTIONS that ACADE uses for it's blocks.

I would suggest using LG (Logic Gates) for the family and creating a catalogue table to match.

With the cross referencing, you have to be a bit more clear on what you need...

Are you talking about at the chip level or higher/lower?

Have you set up your dwgs to display the correct sheet information?

Have you added the sheet information to the individual dwgs?

Hello Brad,

Thank you for the feedback.

Well, concerning the training, it's a mix of trial-error and some tutorials from the web (lynda.com to be exact - very good by the way), and indeed the goal it to profit from the automation ACADE has in order to adapt to my needs.

ACADE will not be only used to do these diagrams. I just thought, as a standard document in our projects, why not organize it all in one single tool?

Custom blocks are obviously the way. My goal is clearly on the variable identification because what often is seen in much more complicated diagrams is that a variable which was supposed to have it's attribute/page correctly identified all over the drawings, as no automation is used, most certainly, in some part of the drawing, it's wrong...

I will check your remarks regarding custom blocks.

Thank you for your help.

Regards
