Insert / Edit Child Component - Error

An error is showing when I insert the child component. I can't click the Drawing, Project & Parent/Sibling Buttons (it's not working). I can only press Cancel Button.

If this applies to all child symbols in all projects, I would do a reset of AcadE...

If the reset didn't work, I would next try a Repair. If that also fails, a re-install of the software is probably in order. Both options are available in Add/Remove Programs.

If you need to re-install, first be sure that you have all the necessary permissions (meaning full read/write access) in any location where ACADE puts its files. This includes anything on a network. Personally, I always set a CAD station to have administrator privileges.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Sebinrose, here's what you should see in console when you insert a schematic component:

Specify insertion point:
Extracting item numbers in use . . .
Retrieving project-wide component tags in use...
 reading project database file . . .
Command: *Cancel*

Are you sure that your project is setup correctly, and that your active drawing is in the project?

ACADE is a pretty finicky program. As soon as you start seeing "lsp" errors, it's likely that nothing but a full Repair or Reinstall will solve the issue. I've had this many times when the mouse reactor (the ACADE custom right-click menu) stops working.

Unrelated: I noticed you aren't using SNAP - I would highly recommend turning this on, so you can be sure your wires meet up and that components land correctly.

I fixed this problem just running the program as an admin user. You can configure this application to always run as an administrator (link). I hope you'll find it useful.

I'm currently experiencing this problem, only I'm not getting an error code and none of the solutions fixed the problem.

In my case, the reason is that the TEMP folder was on disk D - I always transfer after installing windows. Returned the user environment variables Temp and Tmp to "default" and everything worked

Interesting, my re-installed copy seemed to have worked.  Whereas my original ACADE was on my D drive.

That's helpful.  Thanks
