How can I Import a 3D model into AutoCAD Electrical

Hello All,

I need to add an Electric motor to  my drawing. How can I Import a 3D model (.IGS or .STP) if the File Windows Explorer does not pop up?

AutoCAD Electrical doesn't do anything in 3D. It can load step files because regular ACAD can load step files, but it's limited to the same editing commands as regular ACAD.

Why don't you just load the motor's step file into the model using whatever software did the model? There's no reason to import the model into ACADE just because you're dealing with an electric motor.

ACADE is really just meant to be used to draw schematics and panel layouts for industrial controls systems. It can't do much more than that.

Hello Jim,

Thank you for your response. I imported the solid (electric motor) from the vendor's web page. For any reason, Filedia was 0. So, I changed Filedia=1, and it worked. Thanks again for your time.
