BOM stands for Bill of Materials or parts list. Think of AutoCAD Electrical as a documentation tool. It does not do the engineering for us, nor does it simulate the function of a circuit. It is a tool that makes us more efficient at documenting our design. It does include a certa8n level of error analysis, such as warnings for duplicated device identifiers, duplicated wire numbers, components missing a part number assignment, wires not connected, components with a wire connection that has no wire connected, and more. It will also warn when you try to associate too many contacts to a relay. In certain circumstances it will warn of the possibility of a short circuit, but it is really just warning you that you are attempting to feed a circuit from two separate power sources.
Like testsubject said, there is a utility called Power Check that was added just before Autodesk purchased the program. They have not automated this feature. In its present state you can add load data to components in a circuit and later generate a report that totals the load data for the circuit. But the software doesn't automatically figure out how much current a component draws. It simply allows you to add this data to the component symbols in a circuit and later generate a total load value report.
