Custom Data Fields to Report

Hi there,

Win 7 Pro, ACE 2017, JIC125 libs, out of the box default_cat.mdb with added components.

Occasionally need to create 'cable schedule' drawings.  All it amounts to is using dumb blocks and wires.  The dumb blocks can say something like 'j-box' with a wire running over to another dumb that might say 'motor 3 - conveyor 2'.  The wire gets a plain cable marker, I usually use the single forward slash from the icon Menu.  The cable marker gets data assigned from the default catalog.  In the catalog the manufacturer part number is left as is.  We fill in the USER2 field with the companies internal part number.  The odd thing is that if I run a report to get a list of all the cables I can arrange a Bill of Material Report to include the USER2 data in the table.  For the life of me I can't find a way to include that field in a CABLE REPORT.  Am I missing a trick or am I just stuck with the BOM report setup?

Thank you

The only way to get more fields to the cable report (and other reports) is to add user defined attributes:

If you put these attributes in your components, their values will be extracted and accessible from the cable from/to report:

Hi Trond,

Thank you for the reply.  I had tried doing something similar to your example.  But I was filling the little table with definitions for USER2, thinking that might force the value into the available data selections for the customized report.  Just for my own clarity,  is this little definition table only for attributes I have created with a unique tag identifier?  Does this mean I can't use ones that are provide out of the box but not included for selection in all reports?  If I want to add a data field not on the default selection list, the only new ones I can add have to be a new creation within the User Defined Attribute List .wda file?  I can do that, just trying to make sure I am heading the right direct before I dive in.

Thank you

Not sure what happens if you add one of the standard attributes, like MFG and CAT. Try 🙂

There's actually one other way to do this. You can create a user post that extracts the missing data from the catalog.
