Cabinet door wiring routing and report?

2 questions concerning wire routing and To/From reports with cabinet doors.

Question 1

Is it possible to identify components that are located on a cabinet door so that the automatic wiring function will take this into account when routing. The goals is to have as few wires as possible between the door and inside the cabinet. A 0VDC wire sequence that connects multipe components in the cabinent and multiple componenets mounted on the door should only go out to the door once and return once to the cabinet.

The goal of course is to avoid manual methods that are time consuming, error prone and will be over written if the automatic wiring function is run again.

Question 2

Is it possible to create a To/From wiring report for just the door components. With this report the cabinet door can be produced and wired completely and prepared with long wires to be connected to the cabinet later.

I don't think having a seperate loaction for the door is a good solution unless it is possible to have a sub location. A component list for for the cabinet should include components for the entire cabinet, door and otherwise.

Cabinet Location: +A1

Cabinet Internal location: +A1+Intern

Door Sub-Location: +A1+Door

Using the location code IS the way to achieve this.
When generating the BOM, set the filter for +A1*

I'm not sure what you mean by "Automatic wiring function".Maybe you can elaborate a little about this?

By "automatic wiring function" I mean the wiring sequence that is generated for a wire number potential. Or the order that the wire connection will appear in the To/From connection table.

Example: Cabinet with a relay (K1) and a PLC (A1) inside the cabinet. Cabinet door with a switch (S1) and a lamp (H1).  All four componets are connected on the minus side and have the same wire number potential.

Sequence 1: K1 -> A1 -> S1(door) -> H1(door)

Sequence 2: K1 -> S1(door) -> A1 -> H1(door)

Sequence 1 is preferable since there are fewer connections to/from the door to the inside of the cabinet.

The wire sequencing isn't "smart" in any way in AutoCAD Electrical.
IF you right-click a wire, you should see the option to change the wire sequence. You'll have to do this manually for each wire network, and this will then be correctly listed in the from/to reports.

Other programs, like EPLAN, can optimize the sequence based on the shortest/smartest routes.
