Clean 3D solid not working, selection panel - vertex missing Autocad Archi. 20

Hello,

1. I have a student licenced AutoCAD Architecture 2020 product. I'm new here, so far I've been able to find solutions for everything. And my skills need to be polished.

2. I converted walls and roof into 3D solid along with doors and a window. One wall is one 3d solid object now and the doors in it are the second 3d solid object now. However, when I move the doors (same thing with windows) and select clean command from solidedit it does not remove the vertices from 3d solid object "doors" in the wall.

3. The solution for deleting vertices would be as on AutoCAD official tutorial - to go to a home tab and go to a selection panel and select vertex. However, I've checked everything showing and on the home tab I do not have a selection panel. I' ve tried to search for a vertex both in the tabs and panels, but haven't found it. I also tried to run vertex as a command by typing it in, there isn't vertex command.

4. If I do not resolve the solidedit clean command, and if I don't find selection panel, how can I remove vertices without having to draw again or converting it to walls/roofs/etc...?

This solution does not work.

I attached a screenshot for you to see,

Thanks

Ok, wrong me. That solution I ve posted a link works. But, I still have selection panel - vertex missing... problem. And I still have problems how to delete other vertices, cause you can see a vertical line i need to delete on 3D solid. And I need that selection panel - vertex - for further work, too.

I have found Vertex, but it is on the Solids tab under Subobject panel. Still, option delete is missing. And I haven't found a solution just to remove/delete a Vertex.

Unless working in Edit in place. However, I do not know where is that option for 3D Solids. And I have to try it.

Welcome to the community.

I am not certain what "AutoCAD official tutorial" you are using, but you should be aware that AutoCAD Architecture has a different main CUIX file, with different ribbon tabs and tools.  The AutoCAD Architecture ribbon is focused on AutoCAD Architecture objects and workflows, so it will not have everything that the vanilla AutoCAD ribbons have for creating and editing 3D Solids, as the presumption is you will be primarily working with AutoCAD Architecture objects.

From what I can see, even the vanilla AutoCAD ribbon tabs do not have a Selection panel on the Home ribbon tab, it is on the 3D Tools tab.  The Filter tool there allows you to set a selection filter; one option is Vertex.  There is no delete option there.  That same tool is available in the AutoCAD Architecture interface, as you discovered.  You have to turn on the Solids tab (it is not on in the initial default settings), and then the Subobject tab holds that tool.

I am not seeing an option to delete a vertex from a 3D Solid in either interface, but then I do not work with AutoCAD 3D Solids often; perhaps someone with more experience could provide additional guidance.  You may find more users with 3D Solid experience in the AutoCAD forums.

I suppose I must ask why you are converting AutoCAD Architecture objects to 3D Solids in the first place, and then trying to edit the 3D Solids afterwards.  Assuming you have a need to 3D Solids, a better workflow might be to maintain a model with AutoCAD Architecture objects, and when 3D Solids are needed, make a copy of the file(s) and convert to solids in the copy.  When future edits are needed, edit the AutoCAD Architecture file and then copy/create new 3D Solids.

Thank you.

I understand. The clean command works only with certain lines.

Yes, I've found Vertex and on AutoCAD Architecture is in the Solid tab - Subobject panel.

Vertex allows me three options. Previously when clicking on it it was automatically stretch command. Now when I select Vertex from the Subobject panel and literal vertex I have to edit, it allows me two other options: to move a vertex and to allow triangulation. I solved the problem by just moving vertices from the line on 3D solid to other vertices. It worked for what I needed.

Thank you kindly for your answer. Well, I m pretty much new to AutoCAD, and the past week while working on it was very challenging. The reason why I converted those objects to 3D solid is that I needed to cut the wall object to a specific dimension (you can see on a picture that) and I used a sectionplane command somehow along slice command cause I couldn't resolve it with trim command. I did that and it created a new drawing named "block" where the wall was cut. I am not sure whether it created 3D solids by itself in that new "block" drawing... because I had to generate a wall inside the objects and I think I had to convert objects to 3D solids in order to allow me to insert a space.

It was pretty much intensive learning all of this. I see there are many easier ways to create that, but I'm learning.

Basically, the problem from the title is solved, and I found that "hidden" Vertex in the ribbon. I got to a solution I needed about the problem I had with the drawing.

However, deleting vertices is something I haven't learned yet.

I entered a snap mode with a bunch of options, but I have no idea whether I can delete a vertex in 3D solid by that. I have found a command to delete vertices that only works while editing in place, but I have no idea how to edit in place a 3D solid. REFEDIT command does not work.
