xclipped items selectable

I've seen several posts similar, but most are about the clip frame.

I need to know how to set it so that clipped objects are NOT selectable. This makes no sense on the face of it anyway. Why would you EVER want to select items that are invisible?

Working close up you don't even know you've selected a whole xref. This is crazy. Seems like a bug.

Running ACA '17 on a Dell Precision with NVIDA Quadro card.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Start ABOUT command and tell us what version of ACA2017 is being reported.

And have you had a change to run RECOVER commands on all of your XREFs, child-Xrefs and the top file yet?

Product Version: 7.9.102.0 AutoCAD Architecture 2017 SP1

Built on:              N.104.0.0 AutoCAD 2017 SP1

Not sure what Recover on the Xref will do. There is nothing wrong with the file.

It's just that when it's clipped I don't want the clipped objects to be selectable. If I do a crossing window out in 'empty' space it selects the Xref.

This happens with all files with clipped Xref's

Thanks,

I am unable to replicate your issue with any of our files/xrefs in ACA2017 or ACA2018: can you post dwg saples with the problem for us to examine?

Hope this works. I did an e-transmit folder so you would get the xref and the file that uses it.

Exterior Elevations would be the problem drawing.

Thanks for the files: setting SHADEMODE to 2D in your top file removed the problem.

That did it. Thank you, Sir.

I would never have figured that one out.
