Annotative text causing lag

Hello,

I am running Autocad Architecture 2014 and this problem has been going on for a few weeks now. We use annotative text all the time but recently when ever I go to add a Annotative scale in my properties, when I click the "..." button and my cad starts moving incredibly slow and the only way to get out of it is by hitting esc over and over. Others have used the same file on their pc's with no problems (same version of cad), and I've used other files and the problem is still there, so i'm assuming its my cad, not the files, but for the life of me I can't see what the difference is between their cad and mine. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this. Please and Thanks.

Do you have ANNOALLVISIBLE variable turned on? What about SELECTIONANNODISPLAY?

Do you have a large number of unreferenced annotation scales in your drawing?

Try setting HIDEXREFSCALES to 0 and then running the SCALELISTEDIT command.  If there are a large number of scales on the list, use the Reset button to get rid of any that are not in use.  If you are able to do that, does that improve performance when trying to add a scale to annotative content?

There were up to 30 some scales in there. I did the SCALELISTEDIT and it cut it down to about 15.

Sadly it did not fix my lag issue, when I press that button that brings up my Annotation Object Scale.

Is this problem only in one file, or ALL files?
What changed on your system a few weeks ago?

Can you share your DWG sample with the problem in it? Keep in mind most of us around here no longer run old 2014ACA anymore.

Thirty scales is probably not enough to cause the issue.  There was a time some years back when attaching an external reference would create an external-reference-specific version of every annotation scale in the external reference (whether referenced or not), and they would stick around even if you dropped the external reference.  A file with a number of external references, especially nested ones, could quickly amass hundreds of scales, and then pass them all along if it were referenced.  That can cause a lag.

Figured it out, when I clicked the "..." button the dialog box would appear but off screen. I use the Alt+Space+M to move it back to my main screen. Thank you and good night, lol.
