True Text in Attribute Definition?

Hello,

I am attempting to create my first Title Block with attribute definition.  I am having trouble finding a way to use True Text.  My goal is to use Arial Black.  The Attribute Definition window provides only 3 text options: Pres, Notes, and Standard.  Adjusting the Width Factor does not yield a text that will replace Arial Black.  Is there a way to import true text into CAD for this purpose?

Thank you!

Warmest,

Andrea K

Attribute Definitions are more like "old" single-line Text than Mtext.  You need to set up a Text Style that has the True Type font and width factor you want, then that Text Style will be available as a choice when creating the Attribute Defintion.

How to you setup the text?

Other help threads suggest downloading a text and dropping it into a CAD folder.  Others suggest downloading a .LSP Cad utility file.  What is the proper method for getting Arial and Arial Black to work in Attribute Definition? THANKS!

At the Command: prompt, type STYLE and press ENTER.

In the Text Style dialog (see attached image):

1.  Click the New button.

2.  In the New Text Style dialog, type in the name you want to use for the text style, and then click OK.

3.  Back in the Text Style dialog, select the Font Name, Font Style and make the desired settings in the Size and Effects area.

When you are satified with the settings, click Apply to register the changes in you current drawing.  Click Set Current if you want to make this Text Style your current text style.  Create additional Text Styles, if desired.  When you are done creating Text Styles, and you have applied your changes, you can close the dialog (click Cancel or the "X" in the upper right corner).

Can I make a suggestion that using atttributes is a little old hat for title blocks.  Perhaps I am wrong and maybe they still have a place. But I recently discovered how better to use custom fields instead.  These propagate across all titleblocks instead of having to enter each one.

Perhaps attributes are good for each sheet data (I found another way) but info that is common to all could be fields.

Now I use a 1 file approach and perhaps you are using many dwgs in which case I may be wrong but then you should look into the sheet set manager for ACA.

Thanks so much.  I was under the impression that my title block needed to have attributes before I could convert it into Fields for Sheet Sets.  I will look into it.  Thanks for the tip.
