Scale Bars - AutoCAD Architecture

Hi, newbie here! My head is about to explode. I am aware what scale bars are used for and how to use them, but when I came for architectural drawing I'm struggling.

Question 1 - Do you place your scale bar in model space and then scale it down on layout? Or do you create different scale bar blocks and place them manually on layout? For me, the second one makes more sense.

Question 2 - If it makes more sense to place scalebars on layout manually, do you have all scale bars equally sized and scale them on layout according to drawing?

Guys, if you have any ideas or workflow that you use, please share it with me - I want to learn.

Hello, the easiest way is to use a dynamic block in paper space. Just select the block and pick the correct scale. If you put the bar in model space, you may need to show different views at different scales, thus the model space bar would get in the way. This thread may help you.

I have noticed that using a dynamic scale bar in the layout space tends to work best because it automatically matches whatever scale your viewport is set to which saves a lot of time compared to adjusting a static block in model space placing a scale bar at 1:1 in the model can work but it often becomes unreliable when a drawing has several differently scaled views so keeping everything tied to the layout usually keeps things cleaner and some teams even build small libraries of custom drafting tools similar to how I have seen resources organized on sites like 5thaxis to make their workflow more consistent is the main issue you are running into that the scale bar does not update when the viewport scale changes or something else?
