Quicker way to Layer State Manager ?

When I need the Layer State Manager, I go to the Layer Properties Manager and then click on the Layer States Manager.

I see when I hover over the Layer States Manager button, it shows "(AltS)" but typing that does nothing.

Is there a quicker way ?

LAYERSTATE command, and all commands in AutoCADARCH by the way, can be abbreviates to absolutely anything you want as 1, 2, 3, 4 letter abbreviates
https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Creating-a-keyboar...

or a sticky-key combo as you seem to wish to use in CUI command https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/tsarticles/ts/6pCskzjZiRJ3X4tJkB753X.html

ALT+S does not appear to be assigned to anything by default here.

LMan is the assigned alias for layer states manager by default.  LM seems to work with autocomplete enabled OR maybe I've type it enough for autocorrect to take over.

At the very top of your screen, there is a customizable quick action toolbar.  Right click on it, click on customize and find the Layer States Manager icon a drag it up there.

I was so glad when you pointed out that the assigned alias for Layer States Manager is "LMAN". I used it many times yesterday.

But this morning, it doesn't work.

What could have changed overnight ?

Could you have set a different profile, with a different search path, so that a different acad.pgp file was found first?

Could a different acad.pgp have either overwritten over your previous one, or been copied/moved to a folder higher in the search path?

can you clarify "doesn't work"?

And did you get a chance to test it in many files?

restart your PC yet?

Does the full command, LAYERSTATE, work?

Along with @David_W_Koch and @pendean suggestions,  also check  input settings which are found in the lower left corner of your workspace. (little wrench) Autocorrect and delay settings could be part of the problem.  Delay may be set to longer than your typing speed.
