Plot Delay

ACA 2016

So when I type 'PLOT' or hit CTRL+P, there is a long delay before I see the plot dialog box appear. It is usually between 25-45 seconds. It didn't used to do this.

It should be noted that we got rid of an old plotter long ago, but its default .PC3 file was always appearing as the default plotter, and then we'd select a different one whether actual plotter or PDF or whatever.  So I went to that directory and deleted the old .PC3 file and in the OPTIONS dialog box set the default plotter to what we use most. That's when the delay started happening. I've tried several different default plotters and experience no difference.

Thoughts?

If all of your drawings page setups made use of that default plotter, then when you run the PLOT command, it is going to look for that plotter/PC3 file in the Printer Configuration Search Path.  The delay is most likely that search timing out.  I would recommend changing the page setups for the Model and Layout tabs in your old drawing to use a printer that is currently available.

There must still be a dead link or dead driver being touched by the command or being sought in the DWG file.

Back up your customizations and reset one seat of AutoCAD as a test and see if that fixes it https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...
