when i use my mouse wheel to pan (all the time!!) it started randomly getting stuck in the pan mode when i relase the wheel.  i have to hit escape to get back to regular selection mode.  i've searched old forums and seen the issue but haven't found any posted solutions.

I found this thread where a autodesk employee says it was a bug caused in 2014. I haven't found a definite solution though. Some people say a new mouse fixed it or updating mouse drivers fixed it. Will that work for you, maybe or maybe not.

Thanks for the reply, Nick.  Turns out for me it was tied to going into 3-D mode and then back to 2-D.  I spent 45 minutes on the phone with tech support and the ultimate solution was to find a file previous to that 3-D escapade.  For some reason that corrupted the file and it wouldn't completely let go of the 3-D parameters even though it said it was back in 2-D mode.  Still no actual "fix" for what happened but I'm back up and running with minimal losses.

I also just received this follow up from tech support - I already deleted the problem file so I have no idea if this was the issue or not, but posted here for someone to find 7 years from now. 😉

"Have you tried changing the visual style back to 2D Wireframe? When going into a 3D view, AutoCAD will change the visual style to a 3D style – in this case hidden. Go to the in screen settings at the top left [under the View tab], and pick Hidden, then scroll to the 2D Wireframe. See if that gets back to what he expects."

@Anthony_IsholaTFXU5  7-years looking for a solution? What have you tried or done in the 7-years with PAN stuck "on" making AutoCAD unusable this whole time if I may ask?

@pendean I searched for the solution to a problem I am facing with the software and saw that someone had the same issue 7 years ago. Hence my comment. I am not the person who originally posted the issue 7 years ago. Are you bored or something? If you haven't got a helpful reply then go and find something useful to do with your time.

There is no solution in this one post because it's not really a universal problem for ALL or the majority of us AutoCAD users sadly: if this is happening to you, here are the ways to open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help:

Honestly, you made it sound as if you've been looking for 7 years. "Yep, I'm here 7 years on looking for a solution!" Maybe you could have worded it better?
