No, if we stop as you described it: perhaps there are more details you can share about your actual need and intent like you are trying to capture an area of a footprint or...?

Pretty basic need actually, just looking for the area of a mass element that can be obtained without resorting to a formula.

There is no button/single command for that, sorry.

As @pendean mentioned, more details are helpful.  If you are looking to get the area only, consider converting the element to a space without erasing geometry.  The space will offer the base area for tapered shapes.

Thank you all for your suggestions.  No solution given as I see it.  I will probably resort to VB code to come up with the area.
