LINES DISAPPEARING AND SCALE PROBLEMS

Hello,

I am currently dealing with many issues with my AutoCAD file that are difficult to explain.  These are the problems according to their photo number:

1A & 1B: The table is not scaling properly.  There are multiple viewports that are either 1/4" = 1'-0" or 1/8" = 1'-0", this table is 1/8" = 1'-0".  For some reason, in the Layout space the words are larger and overlap the table lines however in Model space, the table is super large and I cannot tell how close the lines come to the words.  These are not matching up. 1A.JPG1B.JPG

2: For some reason, these lines keep disapearing on my plan.  Why does this happen?  Sometimes it comes back when I change the scale at the bottom of Model space (refer to issue 3).  Majority of the time it is gone and now I do not know how I can get this back.  It does not look like a hatch, but a line but why does it keep disappearing? 2.JPG

3. What scale is this supposed to be on?  It is at 1/4" = 1'-0" but I find that some things have disappeared on this, but then when I change the scale to either 1/8" = 1'-0", 1'-0" = 1'-0", or 1:1, it messes up different lines, notes and dimensions in Model space and then these disappear from Layout space as well.

If anyone know how these can be fixed, I am in desperate need of help ASAP 😞

To sum this up: Model space notes and lines are not properly scaling in Layout space and certain lines and elements keep disappearing in Model space.  Also clicking the annotative symbol with the circle and the lightning mark seem to be messing up the file as well.

Thank you,

Lily

First of all, this is the Autocad Architecture forum and by the looks of your screen shot you are using plain Autocad.

It is difficult without having access to your actual drawing where all these problems are.

They all depend on your settings.

Generally, annotation scaling only affects "annotation" objects such as text, dimensions etc.

Plain lines and circles are not affected by annotation scale settings.

You should post your file so someone can check this out for you and offer suggestions.

I agree with the others.  Post on the AutoCAD forum and ask your instructor. That said, I hope some of these suggestions are helpful:

  1. Don't put a whole set of drawings in the same DWG file. It's a recipe for confusion and trouble.  At most, put the plan layers and views in a single file.  I still hate that but it's an improvement over your file.
  2. Be careful when you use annotation scaling because it needs to be used with exactness. Tables can't be made annotative and so they need to be created to a specific scale if they need to be in model space.  Since they can't be annotative themselves, you should avoid using annotative text styles with tables.  Viewports viewing tables should be full size or the tablestyle should be preset for a single scale with model size text adjusted for that dimscale. You can't just zoom the viewport to fit. The viewport scale must match the annotative scale of the annotative objects exactly.
  3. Never, ever use the batt linetype.  It will confuse you and the results will usually be horrible. Use hatch instead. Avoid trying to simulate manually drafted plans.  If you must use batt insulation in plan views (bad practice IMO), then use non-annotative dynamic blocks for the batt insulation.
