I'm struggling to unplot a layer as I don't have the printer icon on my layout settings

I'm struggling to get my paper view set up for printing as with my preview, the viewpoint drawing has a box around that I don't want to be there but I haven't got the simple printer icon on my layout settings that will solve this, where would I find the icon?

I have attached my drawing below.

Thanks,

Georgia

First of all, you can upload a dwg directly to your post. A link is not necessary. Probably safer too, since you don't have to share your file with the public.

The box you are referring to is the viewport itself. Create a layer called "Viewport" and set it's color and set the PLOT property to no plot. Then put the viewport on this new layer. If you don't want to see the viewport at all, you can turn off the layer. But first, I would select the viewport and LOCK the display property.

Hi Ed,

I have created a layer called 'viewport' but this is where I struggle with the PLOT property as it isn't an option on the layer properties as I have no printer icon for PLOT to turn off and on, thank you for your previous message, I will keep in mind next time about sharing my work using the link.

Thanks,

Georgia

Show us what you see and where please: we all can set any layer to NOPLOT all day long in our AutoCAD variants all day long

Follow these steps,

1. Open the Layer Properties Manager

2. Click on the New Layer button

3. Name the layer "Viewports"

4. Click on the Plotter icon and a minus sign will appear. This means that the layer will not plot.

5. Select the viewport or viewports.

6 With the Quick Properties dialog showing, click on the Layer property and change it to the Viewports layer.

7. Set the scale

8. Lock the viewport.

9, Optional: Go back to the Layer Properties Manager and turn off the Viewports layer.

Oh my, you are not running the AUTOCAD ARCHITECUTRE software at all, aka the topic of this forum. This forum is for that specific software package, Windows-based, this is not for users in a Architect's office. Sorry.

You are running AutoCAD for MAC: it has a completely different interface and it's own forum way over here

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac-forum/bd-p/autocad-mac-forum-en

I'll ask the admin to move your post over there, your layer list is unfamiliar to most in here trying to help you out. If you want to share your DWG file someone will help you set it to no-print in the meantime.

Hi Georgia,

@georgia_e_lee100

If you don't see Plot property on the Layers Palette:

- right-click on the properties caption (1) and check-mark "Plot" property (2):

Now you should see it:
