How to edit block without modifying the actual block in content browser?

It could be a bit confusing, so I am trying to edit a block from tool palettes and once I hit save the block gets automatically updated in the content browser too, so the original block is modified. Is there a way to edit the block without really touching the original one? Thanks!

You cannot modify the original source block from another DWG file using TPs. Sorry.
You can only create a second block from this newer source, the file you are doing all this editing in.

I'm guessing a little here, so forgive me if I'm off.  There are a couple of ways to edit block definitions in published tool palettes without updating the source dwg.  Editing the block definitions of multi-view blocks or annotation tags, door symbols etc. is different.  Here is a  (screencast)

1. edit definition in current dwg only. right click and edit block.

2. save block as another block in the source file.

If you are looking to edit aca content, post a screenshot of the symbol, toilet, tub etc. So I can better understand.
