Architecture commands not working

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am running AutoCAD Architecture 2010 for a PC and commands such as "wall", "doors", and "ceilinggrid" aren't working.  When I open files created by my colleagues I can see the walls and doors etc and I can minorly edit them.  However, I cannot change the wall type or thickness nor can I draw a wall on my own, I have to copy and either extend or trim an existing wall.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks.

Are you sure you are editing in Autocad Architecture and not plain Autocad?

Do you enter these commands at the command line?

Have you tried tool palettes to add walls and doors?

Have you tried adding walls or doors from the "Home" tab?

Have you tried right clicking on a wall or door and selected "add selected"?

When I go to Help>About it says AutoCAD Architecture 2010 v 2

Do you enter these commands at the command line?

Yes, I enter the commands in the command line.

Have you tried tool palettes to add walls and doors?

I can add windows and doors but not walls.  And the windows and doors don't seem to be the standards that my company had set up.

Have you tried adding walls or doors from the "Home" tab?

Have you tried right clicking on a wall or door and selected "add selected"?

This isn't an option.  When I select a wall or door though the properties palette calles it either an AEC_Wall or AEC_Door.

Make sure you enter the correct command "wall" not "walls".

Do you get an error message when using the WALL tools from the tool palette?

If you company standards are different than what you have on your tool palette ask them where the company "Content" is and have them mak this available on your tool palette.

Have you tried adding walls or doors from the "Home" tab?

Try adding doors, walls etc. from the Home tab on the ribbon.

These tools are available on the BUILD panel on the left hand side of the ribbon.

This isn't an option.  When I select a wall or door though the properties palette calles it either an AEC_Wall or

Not on the properties palette, right click on the wall or door or window and from the submenu select "Add Selected".

My IT guy repaired my AutoCAD and so now it works.  I'm still not sure what the original problem was.

I am having the same problem only it's with release 14. I updated from release 13, and now all of my previous commands aren't working. Do you know what your IT guy did to fix this?

Sounds like a repair of the installation was run.  With AutoCAD closed:

Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall or Change a Feature

Right click on the Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture 2014 item (name may vary; mine has " - English" at the end) and choose Unistall/Change (only item on context menu).

In the dialog that opens, choose Repair or Reinstall, verify that the Repair radio button is selected and choose the Repair button.

The original installation files may need to be available.
