AEC Objects in Wrong Cut Plane

I need help resolving an issue I have when I export my floor plans sheets and would appreciate advise.

I am creating construction documents for a three-level building.  The model we have built for the building has a construct for the exterior walls that spans the three levels of the building. We are using cut planes at each of the three levels to cut the exterior wall at the correct height for our floor plans.  This is working fine for us until we etransmit the exploded floor plans to our consultants.

When etransmitting, Autocad is using the same, first floor, cut plane to cut all three levels.  My consultants are seeing the same first floor of my exterior wall construct at each of the three levels. We have tried fixing this in serveral ways but everytime we etransmit our files, autocad cuts the exterior wall at the ground level.

Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this issue?

thank you,

NT

Try to create a view for each floor using current floor + exterior walls,

drag each view on the sheet

Hi Vitaly,
That is what we are doing. We have created a view for each level with the exterior walls cut at the correct height. We then drag each floor plan level model view into the sheets. Despite this, we continue having the issue that when we etransmit the exploded file, ACA cuts every floor level model view in the sheet at the same, first floor height. Etransmit does not recognize the different cut planes we have already created.

You mentioned using Etransmit.

Have you tried EXPORT command?

E.g. use EXPORT for each floor construct?

Hi,

Do not make the cut!

Create a separate:
1. view of the 1st storey + exterior walls
2. ...
3. ...

in three files

VitalyF, thank for your video. I really appreciate it.  The issue we are having is that, on one sheet, we need to have all four building level views. In your video, each level’s view has its own separate sheet which is different.   When we etransmit this one sheet with all four level views, ACA cuts all three level views at the same, first floor, cut plane. So, my exterior wall (equivalent to your External walls in the video) for the second floor is being cut at the first floor instead of the 2nd floor.  I hope I'm explaining myself. I appreciate advise to solve this issue. Hopefully it could help others.

Thank you

leo, I tried export per your advise. It worked at the construct level. When I tried to export the sheet, weird things began to happen with the walls. The construct exported as a block with correct linework.

Is there a way to batch export constructs? Otherwise, I am going to spend long hours opening each construct and exporting.  I fear I might have not choice. This is a 15 building project, each with 3 levels!!

I really hope there's a way to batch export!

It probably is possible to write a script to batch export all files in a directory.

The actual command is AECEXPORTTOAUTOCAD2013  (2013 being the version of file you export to)

I'm not sure if you're familiar with writing script files, you can always ask in the Customization forum for questions about scripts.

Hi,

all views on a single sheet + 3st floor from model view separately

CutPlane_Model.gif

You can perform the _eTransmit of project, Construct, Views, and Sheets tabs

with explode AEC Objects
