Hi

I have a substancetexture node in Maya (2108) and it looks fine in the viewport but does not show in the render.

I found the answer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3h-DzGBLt4&t=28s

However the video is old and you have to auto bake the textures to use them. Is it possible to use the substance directly and plug into Arnold (as I did above) and not bake the textures?

If I have to bake the textures is it possible to use .exr as at the moment the bake produces a .png?

thank you

That's too complicated, the baking process. I simple follow below method and the exact output in maya render as in substance.

1. Export all textures in 16bit tiff and Arnold 5 aistandard ( or Aistandard Udim) Configuration preset.

2. In maya switch on color management, Input Colorspace to RAW. THEN reapply rule to scene.

3. I keep all textures in Raw input colorspace except the Base color.

4. For basecolor texture node, change the texture to sRGB and tick on the Ignore colorspace.

5. For normal map, switch off Alpha in luminance.

Chk the whole method here.

I am not sure if this is the best way as it creates png files so maybe a hybrid solution between manual hookup (export maps from SD) and then use them in Maya with the substance node after running the auto map which creates the pngs. Then swap out the pngs.

thanks for the reply
