no texture update HtoA

selection-021.pngselection-022.pngselection-023.pnghi, i use houdini 16 in Fedora26. when i connect an image node to diffuse color of standard shader as texture no change occur or sometimes Houdini close itself suddenly or sometimes the render image shows a static image without update. also when i try to update TX textures it says that textures skipped for my case it shows: 1 skipped.

i don't know how could i resolve this problem

What do you mean "no change occur" ? Do you mean the Render View does not update? What if you Render Frame to mplay, does that show the texture?

A tx won't be updated if nothing has changed.

If you insert a node while the render window is open, then it does not automatically update the way it does in c4dtoa. Only when you change parameters and attributes. I am not sure if it's supposed to or not.

Connecting image nodes isn't supported yet (for IPR updates). That will probably be in the next phase of IPR improvements, which started with 2.1.1

in Houdini and Maya if you add remove or change any parameter you would see the render view update immediately , for my case i Use refresh button but no change happens and texture isn't applied to sphere or any other object. 😉

first tnx to your answer. [What do you mean "no change occur" ? Do you mean the Render View does not update?] yes i mean that, excuse me for my poor English.

[That will probably be in the next phase of IPR improvements, which started with 2.1.1] : Are you Sure?

i use version 2.1.4 :

bout [Connecting image nodes isn't supported yet (for IPR updates).] : i fallowed exact the tutorials and it is clearly possible as you can see in image here I've taken from a tutorial by Rohan Dalvi:

i used the same texture as you can see but my object don't get updated :

hi body. [If you insert a node while the render window is open, then it does not automatically update the way it does in c4dtoa. Only when you change parameters and attributes. I am not sure if it's supposed to or not.]:

in Houdini and Maya you can see render view get updated immediately if you change any parameter of objects or shaders also Add or Remove any shader node.....

i don't know about C4D verion of Arnold.

IPR improvements are an ongoing process. Support for things like new image nodes inserted in a shader tree will come in a future update of HtoA.

so what about image above so how he could do it? do you think i couldn't fallow a simple tutorial?

i don't know what is IPR because i've decided to migrate from maya to houdini recently.

is it interactive physically Renderer?

tnx to your reply

may i ask you [Stephen Blair] have a look to this tutorial?

tnx again but i know you didnt get my mean.

Adding a new image node and connecting it in the shader tree won't automatically update the Render View. You have to click Render and force HtoA to re-export the scene.

lets give up the render view and IPR. here is my final render image below:

selection-0.jpg

you see that texture isn't applied to the sphere. so if you think i made some mistakes. plz give the correct tips and steps to assign texture to Diffuse Color of Standard shader then apply it to Sphere.

tnx

i did it many time but nothing happens about texture. is it depends on my CPU? i have a bugy Ryzen 1700.

Upload a scene file with the textures. Linking an Image to the Base Color of a Standard Shader is all you have to do, so there must be something else going on. Did you check the Arnold log for errors or warnings?

Does this sphere have UVs? Can you share a simple scene?

Message 18 of 20

it didnt. i'm sorry for may late answer.

the objects didnt have UV. so after UV project the texture applied.

tnx
