Arnold menu not loading / HtoA 6.3.5.0 for Houdini 20.5.370 Linux (GCC 11.2) Python 3.11

Spotted this in the htoa.json which I assume is an error...

Tried changing to 3.11 311 but the Arnold menu still does not load

That's not an error, it's checking if you have the Python 3.10 version of Houdini.

And if you do, then you should be using the Python 3.10 version of HtoA, which by default installs in a folder with ".py310" in the folder name.

 If you have the default Houdini version (which is Python 3.11), then the default HtoA download (the one with no "py310" in the name, it should work.

I would check the details from Help > About Houdini > Show Details

Houdini is not finding the HtoA package (htoa.json).

Loaded Packages:

Is there an htoa.json file in /home/frankie/houdini20.5 ?

If you want to try the latest HtoA, you could download HtoA 6.3.5.0 for Houdini 20.5.370 Linux (GCC 11.2) from your Autodesk Account and run that installer.

No htoa.json in /home/frankie/houdini20.5 

This was a fresh install of arnold / HtoA 6.3.5.0 for Houdini 20.5.370 Linux (GCC 11.2) using the install wizard.

Working fine now, copied the..

/opt/htoa folder
htoa.json file

to

/opt/hfs20.5.370/packages/

You need to install alien

[9015] Standard output:  Please install alien to be able to convert .rpm packages to .deb!

[9015] Standard error:  /home/frankie/Autodesk/LicensingInstaller/install.sh: line 44: alien: command not found

The Autodesk Licensing installers use rpm, but the Arnold licensing installer will conver those rpm files to deb for you. But that requires alien

Thanks for continued support. Autodesk License Manager installed and running.

Latest issue, nothing is executed when pressing the 'Sign In' button in the Autodesk License Manager. The 'Sign In' button does not link me to account login online, whereas the 'Purchase' button does link me to the Arnold purchase online.

I have an educational licence that should be picked up when I'm able to sign in using the Autodesk License Manager.

I spent 2 weeks on this error. License manager does not work on:

Ubuntu (all versions), Mint, Debian, PopOS, Fedora, Suse/OpenSuse (Leap and Tumbleweed), Arch based distros like Manjaro, Gentoo, etc.

Autodesk probably develops products on Rocky and License manager will only work on RHEL/Rocky/Alma. On any other distro you will get 24 API timeout error or sign in button will not open the browser. It's pity since Arnold and Houdini work perfectly well on anything. Large studios are fine since they all use network licensing.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this @peterDTE7K. Does anyone know how to manually download / install the licence? I see this option in the licence manager but cannot find a download link from my account on the Autodesk website.

It's asking for a serial number.. that I don't see listed on my Arnold subscriptions page. Can anyone @Autodesk support?

None of that applies to Arnold. You have a single-user subscription. That requires a sign-in with an Autodesk ID. There is no license file.

And registeronce is for a different kind of Autodesk licensing, one that is no longer available.

@Stephen.Blair So you're confirming @peterDTE7K comment above that it's not possible to assign a single-user subscription licence using Licence Manager (and thus not be able to use Arnold unwatermarked) in Linux Mint?

No, I was commenting on the post about registeronce, serial numbers, and license files.
On any OS, if you have single-user subscription then the only way to use the license is to sign in with the Arnold License Manager.

Can't you contact Autodesk support? There's a dedicated installation and licensing team for this stuff.
