Is it possible to alter/randomize a procedural's animation start time?

Like the soldiers-example here but with an animation-loop that should differ from instance to instance.

Oh, procedurals can be used in pflow! So there it should be possible with Shape Instance. I'll try...

Unfortunately, there's no way for instances of the same procedural to have different start times.

By the time it gets to Arnold, you'll have a procedural that loads something like example.0055.ass, and all the instances will instance that.

What a pity.
Thanks, Stephen.
