Hello everyone,

We are having issues with Backburner 2019 for 3ds Max 2025.3 with MaxtoA 5.8.3.2.  We would appreciate all assistnce/guidance in solving this issue.

I have  attached logs for detailed information of the error. We are certain their are no incompatibity between server/manager versions.

One frame successfully renders, no further frames are completed within the sequence.

Microsoft Windows 11 Enterprise

Version: 23H2

3ds Max 2025.3

MAXtoA: 5.8.3.2

Many thanks

It might help to have both log files for the same time range (backburner.log currently covers several hours less than backburnerServer.log) so we can directly match the client and the server log entries.

But on first glance it looks like the 3ds Max part of backburner stops/crashes after rendering the first frame.

There is a warning about a missing DLL ("unable to load dynamic library c:/programdata/autodesk/applicationplugins/maxtoa_2025/bifrost\bifrost_procedural_0_2.dll") on the server, maybe it is worthwhile trying to fix that first?

Also, there are more warnings in the server log:

[MAXtoA]: Cannot create output folder 'C:/Users/admfitz/Documents/3ds Max 2025/renderoutput/'.
[MAXtoA]: Failed to set parameter 'gpu_max_texture_resolution' of type 01 on node 'options'.

Not sure what that second issue is about - but have you tried to render the same scene on CPU only, without GPU, just for comparison?

Edit: see https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/arnold-gpu-forum/gpu-max-texture-resolution/m-p/13740722/highlight/tr... - looks like an old option that was removed, should be fixed by now

Edit2: Latest version 5.8.4.0 of MAXtoA is said to fix this.

PS: You might also want to look into the 3ds Max logs to search for any issues inside of 3ds Max, in addition to Backburner.

Hi Martin,

thanks for your efforts. I'm sorry we haven't updated this thread.

The main problem was that the server wasn't started with admin rights. Doing so shall resolve the issue.

Best regards

Sebastian

admin rights - sounds like file permissions are off?
