consistant behaviour of option window

consistant behaviour of option window

There some tools the "Option window" opens without double click. Like "Align", "Freeform Blend" "Multi Surface Draft". Some Tools don't do that. i.e. "Surface Fillet" does sometimes and sometimes not. If found out the behavour is somtimes changing when I activate or deactivate construction history. But it is not allways the case.

I know it will be opened if an Entity with construction history is select. But some Option Windows are opening everytime.  This si confusing.

I find it helpful if I use shortcuts that the Option box is opening as I don't have the oportunity to double click.

So one idea is to set the Option in every tool whether it should be opened or not (I would prefer that) or in General Preferences.

The following applies to tool windows as opposed to option boxes.  Option boxes are the modal windows such as the option box for Sphere.

Alias try's to pay attention to the state of a tools widows.  If you close a tools window before going to another tool, Alias remembers and the next time you enter the tool it will remain closed.  If t was opened it will open the next time you enter the tool.  If you have "Use Common Tool Window Attributes" selected (which is the default) in General Preferences, windows will be displayed in the same location, but the size will be remembered.  If you have it off the window will remember their positions (if you move them). If they don't have a recorded position the window will use the position of the previous window.  This is all remembered between sessions.

If you launch a tool via hotkeys there are a couple of ways you can open the tool window or option box for the current running tool.  You can select the current tool icon in the upper left of the Alias window (next to File).  Alternatively  you can set a hotkey to open the current tool window, in the hotkey editor under Special->Generally Useful Functions.

Let me know if you've experienced bugs in this behavior.

Hello Bob.

How cool. 😃

I didn't know that. I am using Alias for 28 years now. What a shame. But most important thing I learned: Ask more questions no matter how old you are.
I think I will blog a Video. I think many users are not Aware of that.

Have I nice and warm weekend. Christian
