Quadro 4000 vs P2000

Hello!

Last five years our team was working in Alias Surface 2014/2015 on HP Z210 with Quadro 4000. One week ago we've got new machines HP Z440 with Quadro P2000, but still the same Alias Surface 2015. And there is one annoying issue we can’t solve:

All lines without “Wireframe Anti-Alias” option look ragged

Alias_wireframe.jpg

This bug appears only if  “Hardware Anti-Alias” option is ONAlias_settings.jpg

I see Quadro P2000 is certified only for Alias 2018-2019, And there is no information about earlier versions like 2015.

Maybe has anyone encountered this problem?

Thank you!

Hello. I'm a colleague of pozdeev.av.

So, it sound like there is no way to resolve this bug with Alias 2015 and Quadro P2000/P5000 am I right? They are incompatible in that regard.

Is this problem of Alias 2015 or problem of nVidia drivers?

Thanks for your answer in advance.

Hello!
Finally I've got a new workstation HP Z8 with Quadro P5000 and Alias Surface 2019.2
It seems like the problem with displaying of wireframe is still the same like in Alias 2015 with Quadro P2000
On the image below I've showed result with shading parameters we are using for work:

Wireframe Anti-alias = OFF
Shaded Antialias = ON
Hardware Antialias = 8x

Unfortunately, this issue has not been fixed in 2019.2 update. (We actually fixed another graphic issue but not this specific one). We have addressed it and hopefully can be fixed in the near future. Thanks.

Hello!

Technical support from our supplier recommended to install the latest driver for Quadro P5000 and after testing put some parameters here.

So, the newest driver (411.95)  doesn't help.

Another requested information below:

  •   OS information by winver command

04_windows_info.jpg

  • Graphics card name and driver version

QUADRO.jpg

  • Anti-Aliasing setting on Alias:

Wireframe Anti-Alias = OFF

Shaded Anti-Alias = ON

Shaded Anti-Alias options:

Software Anti-Alias = OFF

Hardware Anti-Alias = 4x

Image below I took from my first post:

Best Regards,

Alexander

Hi all,

Update: we can reproduce this issue, and will contact Nvidia on how to solve it. I will give you an update on the status once I have more information.

Thanks,

GG

Hi all,

During our investigations, our developer found out that setting the option "Antialiasing - FXAA" to "On" in the Nvidia control panel seem to have a positive effect on the line display in the graphics area, with only minor impact on the display of the text in the UI elements:

fxaa.png

Maybe this helps, while we are working together with Nvidia to fix this issue.

Cheers,
GG

Nvidia is able to reproduce this problem at their side, they are working on it.

Hello Michael. Thanks for update. May I ask you is there a chance what this issue will be fixed on older version of Alias  as well?

Also we still have got an issue with flickering on x4 hardware AA. Updates on this matter also will be really appreciated.

Thank you for answer in advance.

Hi,

Well, if Nvidia fixes the problem in their driver, I would hope that this would work for all Alias versions then.

On the flickering, the issue is in the system (ALS-4642), we are working on it, but even if this is fixed, the fix won't be backported to older versions of Alias.

Best regards,

GG

Michael, thank you for support. Do Nvidia set any terms of fixing the issue?

Accepted solution

Hi all,

As mentioned before we have reported this issue to Nvidia. They have now fixed this in their latest driver (if I read it correctly, drivers newer than major version 418). It has also been tested successfully on our side. Please let me know in case you should still see issues after a graphic cards driver update.

Thanks,

GG
