Alias Design Marking Menu Slow

Alias Design marking menu is running very slow.  Experience lag of about 0.5 to 1 second between marking menu swipes/flicks. It doesn't sound like much but it feels like an eternity- I've always worked fast in Alias, never had this issue before in past 7 years.

Joe, thank you for sharing this information. Is there still some kind of official release notes on this update?

And is there a way to receive those kinds of information (new version, new release, location to find release notes...) asap by signing up in some kind of newsletter or something? I know, there is the desktop app that would notify me about stuff like this, but I am not the kind of user, that is running Alias on a daily basis, so those kinds of notifications would pass me or get to me a little too late.

Cheers, have a nice weekend!

Marc

I would like to know this as well for our team here. But I'm unaware of the desktop notification app. What app is that? Where may I find it?

And thank you very much to the team there for your quick efforts to resolve this issue!

Hello everybody,

the so called Desktop App, will be normally installed automatically and is notifying you about updates.

But it requires to be logged in with the user that has the application on his account as well.

This is sometimes not the case on companies with many users.

See also here an article about the Desktop App:

About the Desktop App

Hope that helps.

Best regards,

Florian

Thats helps, but I have still two open points on my request:

  • any chance to receive some kind of release notes on the Update 3?
  • any way to receive those kinds of information (new version, new release, location to find release notes...) asap by signing up in some kind of newsletter or something, except using the Desktop App?

Cheers

Did you already have the chance to test this update? Since I didn´t experience this lag yet, the update has no noticable effect at my working station.

Hi Marc,

The app is the official delivery mechanism. We also notify the discussion forum when a product update occurs. In this case the update was specific only to this issue (slow marking menus); there are no other changes in it. For more extensive product updates we provide details about what the various enhancements made, and issues addressed, are.

Hope this helps,

Joe

The update worked, the marking menu is back to normal speed on both my displays. Thanks for the quick fix!

I've noticed a slight improvement but still not to what I was used to.  If it helps, my external monitor is a HP EliteDisplay E272q.

If anything it should be faster than before.  What resolution is your monitor?

I have not had a chance to try the update yet. To be honest, I had to back up to version 2017, and am hesitant to try again until I have more time available. I have to jump through hoops with IT here to be able to download and install it, otherwise I would try right away. Will see if I can soon, though. Thank you!

It is definitely working well for me now. I cannot see any lag for my speed. Thank you very much for your quick efforts to resolve this!
