Anchor Bolts Macro / Base plate macro Improvements

Anchor Bolts Macro / Base plate macro Improvements

Currently when creating base plate with macro we do not have the option to manipulate the following parameters:

1. Grout thickness below leveling plate

2. Projection amount-top end of AB sticking above the t.o.concrete

3. If hooked-Hook size-developers-please make sure you know how the hook and the embedment is measured per AISC.

4. Number of nuts /washers/plate washers-sizes of plate washers/washers/nuts on bottom end

5. Number of washers/nuts below base plate

6. Number of washers/plate washers-sizes/nuts above base plate

We have the drawing style for AB elevation, but we are not able to model exactly what we want-does not make sence.

The way currently anchors are built in Astorbase is not working well. Even the anchor bolt names are entered  wrong by the developers.

There should be a macro to treat anchor as an anchor (round bar, theraded bar) and nut, washers and plate washers attached to it, manipulated from base plate macro and explodable in BOM.

Anchors shall be able to be detailed as MP with parts attached to them.

Grout shall be included in the macro as concrete beveled 45 degress, and included in Anchor Bolt  elevation DS. And a small area of concrete with hatch below the grout, with projection/grout/leveling plates dimensioned in elevation. Hook dimensioned in elevation as well.

Yes please!!!

IMO, the current method of database driven anchor bolts is not working well. The bolts never seem to be exactly what you want, and when you get a new type, you break into a sweat thinking you will have to create a new bolt entry.

Not only would I like to see a macro that can control/describe a bolt. I would like to have control as to the naming/grade etc. Hence, a simple bolt could be described as any type of anchor.

On multiple occasions, I have to place AB's only embedded into concrete, and at the present moment, the best way is to make the AB by Round Bar and to insert washers and nuts and beveled washers as special parts and to model the washer plates as plates.

A macro would save tens-hundreds of hours in the future.

The same applies for bolt+nut+washer + beveled washer macro-these to be explodable, bolt or nut may be shop tack welded, rest - onsite.

Thank you so much for all your ideas here. It seems there is really a need to extend the functionalities for bolts and anchors.

We will take it in consideration for our future roadmap.

best regards

Hello,

There was a discussion about the anchor bolts macro, this idea will eliminate all tables, entered lengths, wrong entered names, diameters etc.

We all know, per Murphy's law, when we need a certain length, it is not there.

Projection and hook, number of nuts etc.-all this is not working in Advance the way it is supposed to be.

One universal macro-anchor to be rod, with hooked option, nuts and washers to be entered by the user, NAME to be entered by the user, thread too.

No Hilti, Powers, Threaded, hooked, etc. different names and tables, only one macro.

This way when controlling the projection we will get REAL anchor bolts setting details, not as we do now-fake projection, cheating with nuts and washers, and hooks, and threads.

It will be easy, flexible for both geometry and grades, and names.

This will end the frustration with anchors in Advance.

Hello,

I would like to add other points:

  1. This point is the same of the post.
  2. When I insert the galvanized holes on the external stiffeners, the macro create holes.
This option produce errors on the NC files because these holes are too close to the edge of the plate.
Unfortunatly this issue doesn't allow the use of this feature.
We suggest you to modify them to round features and not holes.
  3. The anchors holes on the leveling plate follow the same gap of the screw and then if I insert an offset for this plate, major than 10 (this is the default value of the screw gap), the joint remove the holes on the leveling plate.
  4. [Not in the picture] Only for the base plate (not for leveling plate or washers) I need the possibility to insert slotted holes for the anchors.
The current option create slotted holes too long and with different scope.
We ask the classic slotted holes, similar then the manual bolts insertion tools.

Anchor bolts are not the easiest thing in advance steel

there should be a complete separate tool in the program(not in management tools) where you can use a separate dialogue box to create any type of anchor.  This tool should be linked with base plate command, end command etc.

detailing the anchors could then be detailed normally

It would be also better if one could delete the anchors and holes completely in the joint.
In AS2013 this has still functioned, while one has put a number on 0.
The slotted holes should also twist themselves and are regulated.

Moreover, the anchors also generate a hole in addition to the slotted holes.

An error is thereby indicated while generating the NC data.

Also add bolts as well to create custom bolts and threaded rods.

Hello,

Below are 4 screen shots of what we need in order to make anchor bolts work.

Please add A36 Threaded Rod Assemblies w/(2) Nuts, (2) Flatwashers, (2) Lockwashers to the Bolted Connections switch. This should be part of the macro and not have to be done manually.

Threaded rod assemblies have been on the wishlist for well over a year now as well as improvements and updates to the bolt and anchor tools. We really need more control of this.

We have to be persistent with this improvement, below is a link how I see it:

There is no option in advance steel to create shop drawing of anchor bolts.

we have to submit the anchor bolt shop drawing with anchor bolt plan.

so please provide this facility in advance steel so that we can fulfill our

client requirement with the help of advance steel.

Hi Veermani,

Totally agree with your idea,

I have submitted samples what is required here in US,

hopefully Dev. team will improve them in the very near future.

Have a great day.

I think this is something the global community can benefit from. Database driven HD bolts do not work! There are too many variables and job driven specifics! Please give us more control over HD bolts...

Thanks,

One only macro for anchor bolts / rods assemblies with nuts and washers will work better,

no tens of tables,

and when we need something-it is not there...
