Movement of labels and prevent default dimensions to appear during detail update

Movement of labels and prevent default dimensions to appear during detail update

Very often beam labels have to be moved to match the fabricated end-label location on erection dwgs.

Also-unnecessary dimensions created by DStyle are deleted manually and placed new ones.

During detail update labels move to their original location (not always, but it happens) and dimensions appear per d. style requests.

There should be an option labels to stay the way they have been moved, and no new dimensions created after automatically created ones have been deleted, and manual dimensions placed.

Thank you for this great idea. I agree that this will help producing cleaner drawing output and save time on your side.

We will take it in consideration for one of our next releases.

This will go a long way to making AS profitable for it's users.

A lot of us smaller operators are surviving on slim profits and cannot afford the time re-checking and cleaning up drawings after a minor detail update.

This really needs to be addressed as an urgent hot fix.

The drawings that Advance Steel outputs need to be stable if Advance Steel wants to progress as a professional software in the market.

We need to have confidence that when we do our final cleanup and editting that everything remains in the locations we have put things and dimensions remain as they are. At the moment we are continually worried about the accuracy of the drawings as Advance Steel may have changed the label locations or deleted dimensions or moved details.

As per the previous post, we cannot afford the time to re-check and clean up the drawings multiple times. It is costing us so much money and making us so much less productive.

Dale,

If we look at all the connections and custom company profiles etc. developed-thousands and thousands of hours put into it.

But for the few major issues we face every day-I still get an answer-we, developers, do not get this and this issue.

How come their labels are not moving if everybody else's labels are.

How come their dimensions stay, and their compass marks stay, but everybody else's move after simple update.

How come developers do like their anchor bolts MISSING macro, using some poor, funny tables, and anchors that never work, and insist they are o.k...2 hours here, 1 hour there...

Even we will get the snap points this year-funny, isn't it.

What I am supposed to snap to if we do not have projection and embedment, multiple washers-nuts combination, thread value, hook value-nothing! No grout macro.

We change a bolt size of a 50 beam floor plan, and we may end-up cleaning the dwg again and again after every simple change.

Labels jump everywhere, dimensions appear from nowhere, compass marks move on GA dwgs to their original position-all small things that may cost you good 2-3 hours on a 24 hour project. If not more, considering the quality of design dwgs we are getting every day.

Status changed to: Implemented

Advance Steel 2017 provides a new drawing style setup that allows placing beam symbol and label on the left side of a beam assembly drawing.

Furthermore a new option in management tool was implemented to avoid moved or deleted dimensions to non-smart snap points during update.

Hi Udo,

Regarding the new option in MT for not moving the manual dimensions-now in erection dwgs-erection details for eaxmple-when we cut a

manual  vew from a detail view, it causes new dimension points to appear at adjacent bolt/holes locations.

Second item is partially implemented, it is still an issue. Dimensions are not stable during update (on GA dwgs).
