SUBFOLDERS IN DM.jpg

Hi Devs, Can we please have an option to have subfolders in DM, it is hard to navigate for large-size projects. We want to be able to create as many folders as necessary and rename them. Thank you.

From my point of view, the subfolder of the details folder.
We had a few ideas for this here in the forum. The subfolder could be created with Advance Steel and the processes, that is easy to do, but the folder will not be shown in the document manager.

An example of what was needed on this project:

1. Phase 1 and 2 Pay Item No.XXXX only released for fabrication-One folder with this release

2. Phase 3 Pay Item YYY  submitted for approval due to design changes-Second folder with this package

3. Phase 1 and 2 Pay Item No. ZZZ-submitted for approval due to design changes-Third folder with this package

4. Phase 1, 2, 3 AB plans and details-revised due to site conditions-Fourth folder with this package

AS has some sorting ability, but it is not working - ref. this idea station-some very weird at least to say behavior when sorting per revision, date, status.

So the very best way and probably the least expensive from a development point of view would be creating and naming folders within the DM the way we need them.

Happy New Year, Devs, hope you can help us with this idea.

And to make things even worst,

Rev.0, Rev.1, Rev.2, and Rev.3 are all mixed in between releases, phases, and pay items.

I see you use the aproval state...this is what I often use for sorting. Because this could be selected as sorting category:

@Sebastian_Eiche

I am using the approval status, but for some reason, it sets to default when we issue a revision.

We end up selecting some 100+ dwgs again after once revision is issued.

Also- we don't have the Sort per approval status or comment line.

This is what I have:

All the best in 2022.

Could you not sort by approval?

Happy new year too

It is very slow selecting dwgs, assigning status, sorting, rev. up random revisions and selecting again to assign status due to resetting after revisions, and sorting to plot .

The very best way would be if we had sub-folders-we will just move dwgs to a certain package, issue revisions within this package, select, and print.

It is just not working well the way DM is built.

It works great for buildings with 1-2 revisions, and for bridges with almost no revisions,

but for crazy structures with tons of revisions and everything has to be submitted right now, if not yesterday, it is a nightmare.

I have a sheet of paper with all dwgs listed under 4 or 5 submittals, circle them when revved up, cross them when plotted, ...does not seem right.

Is this not with Vault possible?

sub-Folders created into standard Details folder is a must especially when you have bigger projects. a recommendation is to have sub-folders, for Assembly drawings Mp, Fittings for end plates, base plates stiffeners and Sp members.

This will be very productive.
