Remove advance steel name from pdf when batch plotting

Remove advance steel name from pdf when batch plotting

Many have had this ongoing issue when plotting/batch plotting drawings from advance steel.

There is only a workaround by using file renaming software which is a poor solution.

There have been numerous requests for this issue to be resolved and no headway has been made.

See the attached screenshot and look at drawing 102 this doesn't have the advance steel naming at the end of the pdf.

This happens When using our Prototypes: UK-FOUND-A1 & UK-FOUND-A0.

Therefore there is a hint that this can be done on Autodesk's part.

Yes, I have customised our drawing output name strategy but this hasn't changed/removed the advance steel naming at the end of the file name.

What you are seeing in the file names, is simply the name of the layout in the prototype. If you don't want this, you can edit your prototypes accordingly. ie just use A1, A0... as layout names and the advance steel component will not come out.

Of course, it will only work for new drawings. Existing drawings will still exhibit this behavior unless you rename the layout tabs individually.

Hi, could you provide an example of this? As this has been an ongoing issue for many users.

The layout name in PDF, the remnant of the Autocad core - where there are often multiple layouts in one dwg file (actually it cannot be used in Advance Steel), unfortunately it cannot be eliminated in a simple way. We can only wait for a calm solution.

Judging by your file output, the "A0 Advance steel" component would be coming from the layout tab. If you open your prototypes and rename the layout tab to just A0, for example, then the Advance steel reference would not be included in your file name.

Understand you don't want to rename files after the fact. But, there's a utility called ReNamer, that lets you create a set of rules that can be saved. You can easily create a set of rules (remove this, replace this for that...) that you can apply repeatedly. Simply drag and drop your files, apply rules, done...

In the past, i had been told this was hardcoded in advance steel.......clearly this was a simple fix. Thank you again.
