Please stop Modifications moving when plates and beams are stretched via grips.

I have lost count of the amount of time we have wasted, when simply wanting to lengthen or shorten an item by a small amount and all the modification have moved.  Please fix this bug.

If I want to move (stretch) a modification with the item then I should have to have them displayed (turned on).

Agree. I have contacted Autodesk on this issue and they have indicated this behaviour is as intended. But, it is a major issue. There should be a way to grip edit the beams without moving the mods...

if this is "as intended" then there should be a switch to turn it off to allow the user to decide if it is appropriate

@mmcenall, that is a good point. Sometimes I want the cope on the end of a beam to move with that end when I stretch it and usually the opposite end moves as well so you end up with a cope in the middle of the beam. It would be nice if we had a switch as you suggest.

Only for your interest: if you use the "orange modifications" for plates---the modification should not be moved, by using the green modifications, they should move.

In the Advanced Properties box, I believe it would be helpful to be able to modify the length of the object under the properties dialogue, and then to be able to select if the part in question grows in length at one end or the other or overall equally. This seems like it would help with some of the issues listed here, as many reference the end of the object when creating miters, shortening, etc. Also, in a program that's all about data entry boxes this is a surprising oversight, seems like a logical next step...

Rectangular contour, center VS UCS You have two choices

The  orange Rectangular contour, center, toolset will NOT move the feature when making modifications to the plate by grips.

The  green Rectangular contour, center , UCS  toolset will  move the feature when making modifications to the plate by grips.

I hope this helps.

Yes acknowledged for plates.

But what about beams???

There are no options to stop modifications including holes moving when a beam is lengthened or shortened.

There needs to be a toggle to give us this option.

This is something under our consideration, to stop moving features during stretching beams.

Please note that the current behavior was intended in Advance Steel, and all features keep their relative position to the closest beam end. Stopping this would not be a default behavior, as we intended to keep also the current behavior where features move during stretch beam.

Could you please mention how often would you need to switch between the two behaviors, if both apply in your workflow ? Would be something per project, per session, or simply from beam to beam you would need to stretch in different ways?

I wouldn't want to switch at all. The current behaviour is generally far more frustrating than it is useful. You can take care attaching certain features to one end or the other, but as soon as you copy to another beam they all get linked to one end and so further down the line when you are modifying things, it rarely does what you expect or want.
It would therefore be far more productive for all features to stay in position in 3D space when stretching a beam - if you want features to move, just turn on features and select the ones you want to move.
Control over what you are doing is what users need - not inconsistent automation that rarely does what you want!
...same reasons the propagation tool was ill received - no control and thus too dangerous to be useful.

Agree with @Drawtech , there are no instances where I want the software to control this, so I would always have the current behavior turned off.

Additionally, i would request that features were able to be adjusted using the move command. The current method of selecting the relevant grips has limitations and in some cases it's very difficult to adjust the features by a given value.

Thanks @DumitruBerteanu for looking into this. We hope it makes it to the next release.
