IFC import has to convert non steel beams to solids

If the IFC contains other elements then Steel beams.

Advancesteel wants to convert them into steel beams, but that is silly.

It would be nice if Advancesteel import these elements as Solids.

So if I get a IFC file from tekla (or other Products) and these files contains, for instance inner walls, industrial elements etc etc., Advancesteel has to convert these element to solids.

I sometimes need IFC files just for underlay so solids are enough.

Hello Autodesk,

I was wondering if you were busy with this problem.

I get more and more complains of clients that advance steel is missing the train in BIM.

A lot of customers get IFC files from companies and Advance Steel is not able to import these IFC.

the big competitor Tekla-bimviewer is winning the market.

Some clients are allready saying to change to tekla, because of this BIM problem

BIM is as you know very important in todays construction buissnes.

So please Autodesk do something about this. Don not only look at Autodesk products as Revit and Navisworks.

regards

Matrix/software

AutoCAD architecture already has this technology to import items from an IFC file as 3D Solids, can this cosing please be put into the IFC import in Advance Steel, this is becoming a big problem for Advance Steel
