I totally agree. I have been struggling with this for awhile now and have had to redo an entire project because the drawings looked like crap.
Absolutely unacceptable. I have made 3D solid sections for "buy out" items thinking this would work great (at least until I generated the drawings and saw what they looked like). The last time I made 3D models of stock angle flanges for ducting and everything looked great in the model and then I generated drawings. What a waste of time. So, I had to go back and use a polyline to beam with an Advance Steel angle. Drawings look good, BUT, now when copying an assembly (yes doing it correctly) and numbering the model, Advance decides it want to give "identical" assemblies different part numbers (thus the same assembly gets drawn several times instead of just once with a certain quantity).
I have talked to Graitec and have a case in with Autodesk, so we'll see what happens.
These two things have cost me a ton of time and need to be resolved immediately!!!
I Agree, This would be nice if this is sorted out. Because a know its a structural program, but we need to display somethings in context sometimes. Detail example between Cad And Advance Steel below
In this "page" you can see how Autodesk made $ billions on 2020 and every year they don't really make any real improvement in their softwares.
This is a clear example of an issue that users have been asking to be fixed since 2016 and they haven't fixed it.
Sorry to say this but it is very annoying to work with Autodesk , unfortunately they aren't more options out there because I guess Autodesk use their millions to buy the competitors.
This message probably will be reported or something. Let's see.
Sorry, but I need to change it to "Future Consideration". We are aware about the request! As said below: We will take it in consideration for a future release.
This issued is a huge limitation of Advance Steel and should be rectified asap. In the 10 years I have been using Advance Steel there have been many occasions when I have said to my Clients "Sorry about the messy looking drawings but I am using Advance Steel". On occasion I have had to convert the model back to an Autocad Solids file so I can create a readable view, or explode a derived drawing and delete all the mess. Very time consuming!
