Additional view option in camera for isometric views

Additional view option in camera for isometric views

Hi All,

Currently, camera view directions are limited to "orthogonal" views. This makes it very difficult to provide isometric views. Would love the option to provide an orthogonal clipped view, but in the ucs direction. Something like a view override in an existing camera so that it considers a saved UCS instead.

Thanks for considering

hello, can you provide a example of your wish ?

I want to be able to produce isometric views, clipped to the camera boundaries, inclusive of all elements within the camera. Regardless of what assembly they belong to...

Maybe I missunderstood something, but creating a camera, based on UCS is showing what you want or not?

Hi,

so I think what is asked for is for the camera extents box( the constraints of the cut view) to remain as ortho , as shown,  but the actual view direction to be at an isometric projection.

so for example you create a floor plan view based upon an ortho view definition box, but the way you see the view is at an isometric.
the finished /created view then crops/cuts the projecting elements to the edge of the ortho view.
At present to create iso view via camera the control view box is rotated to the view direction,  which means the cutting planes:crop region is not ortho, so view is not create as say a slice through model , but at iso view direction. All the projecting elements are cut to lengths based upon that rotation of the view control box.

in Plant3D you have this option when cutting orthos from the model.

cheers

thanks @johnjmbennett  and @iwafb now i understand.

this could be a nice feature.

I like this idea.  A rectangular bounding box with a unique view direction obtained from a UCS.

Very good idea.

Thanks,
