ADD VISUAL FILTERS

ADD VISUAL FILTERS

Hi everyone, and Hi Advance steel Dev team.

It could be a very helpful tool to add a visual filters command, that highlight the elements with different colors, in function of the selected filter.

The filters could be:

  1. Profile cross section;
  2. Profile design Role;
  3. Material;
  4. Surface treatment;
  5. Plate thickness

It could be also useful to create a kind of legenda of the visualized filter. A kind of visualization filter as already happen in Robot.

Great idea!

Good morning,

With the Project Explorer, you can create a query and run it at any time.

E.g. create a query where you search for beams having a specific Material (e.g. A992) , assign a color (in the General tab of the Query dialog-box) e.g. Green, and save the query (give it a name such as Material = A992).

You will be able to run the saved query by selecting it and choosing "Execute" in the contextual menu.

Project explorer - Create a query - Get the result in Green colorProject explorer - Create a query - Get the result in Green color

Hope this helps (let me know),

Regards

Philippe

Dear Philippe

I know very well the power of query, and I use it a lot. But this kind of workflow is very time consuming, and it's very little practical.

My thought was to emulate the behaviour of Robot Structural Analysis Professional, as shown in the following pic:Advance Sections Type.jpg

It could be a very great feature to push up Advance Steel in comparison with the king TEKLA

So just add quiries to the template , stored in the PE then they will be in place when you start a new project. You can also export them from the model and import into a new model./template. The items in robot are only a predefined search criteria.

Saying that the items in Robot are ONLY a predefined search criteria seams you are indicating that AS does it better since you can define any criteria you want. I dont agree.

Quaries are esential, but he inability of running (hignlighting) more then one quary at a time is a problem when you just want to visualy check the basics like section profiles, material, thickness, model role.

I place beams on manualy created layers based on the section cross secion and assign a characteristic color. This allsow helps with GA drawings since I'm using "...color by layer in overview drawings...".

I think this is one of the best ideas, and that all users would benefit form it.

Hi everybody,

I mean exactly something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPjfSP3x6wo&list=LLeC9o9B1K7SjGBUBTObO_Cg&index=7&t=0s

Perfect visualization in revit.....but really bad in AS.

Greetings
