welded studs on wide flange beam

High-end residential builder here. Virtually all Type V construction with many steel beams/columns to handle point loads to foundation. We've got Advance Steel as part of our Building Suite. We're moving into VDC and I'd like to model steel as well as the timber and light framing that I'm quite experienced at.

One of my first attempts in Advance Steel is to locate a bunch of welded on studs on top of a wide flange beam. The studs will secure exposed heavy timber rafters to the beam.

This is a common exercise for me. We often need to attach wood to steel so we can attach other light wood framing to it.

Any tips? Thanks,

Hi,

This can be done either by using the holes / bolts / anchors / shear studs option, place UCS on top flange, and use the Rectangular, Center point,

Or by using the macro shear studs on beams:

If it is made of steel, I can model it and detail it.
