Every one of these appears to show the bending opposite from what it should be. Has anyone else experienced this and how do I resolve? I would also like them to always bend up so I can scribe bend reference at plasma table for the brake operator.
Hi,
We can't tell from the picture only. Are you using First or Third angle projection? If 1st then the drawing is correct.
If 3rd angle then what view is shown on the right and how is it set to be placed in the drawing style? Placement should be set to Automatic. A left view could still be set to be placed on the right and confuse everyone.

Hi Mark,
I believe this is determined by the orientation of the Z-axis when you are modelling plates prior to adding folds.
Set +ve Z axis to inside of fold should give you the output you desire.
I have not found anyway of changing it after plates have been modeled.
the bending directing is based on the mainplate (the plate with the circle around the little cross).
And in the past this could be changed by changing the "singlepart detail orientation" but I think from the version 2017 this is not working anymore...I report it every year..maybe in the next version 🙄

ADVS 2022 I'm still encountering this major defect... 10,800 lbs of 1/2" Corten steel plate bent on the wrong side... 😡
This depends on the UCS when you create the plate.
Thank you mick, your example is very clear.
But there is one more thing I want to understand... if you cut a hole somewhere on the plate, like a notch on one corner then redo the example you done, you will see that is not just about the drawing orientation of the unfolded plate. It's about a wrong unfolded view. (wrong bending side on shop drawing).
